This is truly sad - Omar Sharif died today. An actor who left his mark over five decades. Join me in saying farewell?

Sad indeed! How magnificent he was in “Lawrence of Arabia,” so young and handsome. I’d like to think he and his friend Peter O’Toole are now happily carousing together with bits of cloud in their sandals rather than sand. I hope so.

A wonderful and charming actor! Lawrence of Arabia and Funny Girl were better films because of his work.

Ahh, Dr. Zhivago!

Plus, he was an excellent bridge player.

Dr. Zhivago was my first date after leaving the seminary!

I never feel sad when an older actor or musician dies; they lived their full life, but it is satisfying to remember their accomplishments. I saw “Lawrence of Arabia” on the big screen when it first came out.

Lawrence of Arabia, The Yellow Rolls Royce… he was good, really good. Weird; I just saw Mayerling last night. Lousy movie, great story. During the whole thing I kept thinking, how could they screw up such a great story as this? Sharif was excellent, as usual, and if he hadn’t carried the thing so well, I would have deleted it in the first half-hour.

Thanks, @elbanditoroso. I was checking to make sure this great actor’s passing was noted here on Fluther.
