Does anyone want to help me improving my english (german)

Asked by loveschocolate (19points) July 24th, 2015

I am german. (Girl,15). Does anyone want to help me improving my English? Writing a text in English isn’t a big problem, but talking(having a conversation) without a really big german accent is a problem.. we could talk to each other about random things. Then I could get practice in speaking. (I would prefer talking about skype or facetime). If anyone is learning german I could help you getting better in speaking it because I am a native speaker:) thanks :)

Is not that rather hard over a vehicle that uses text or printed word as a basis?

(I think she wants to start meetings on skype or facetime, live video and audio,no text involved. )

Sure! I’ll be happy to do it.

Watch a bunch of stuff on youtube, and practice sounding like them. Lots of immigrants learn to speak English from the very beginning from watching television.

@Here2_4 i already can speak english and i also understand things from tv and youtube and when others speak english. at school you learn to read, to write and to understand english, when somebody is talking. this are things you have to do in tests. but next year we also have tests where we have to speak fluently about a random topic and without a german accent and so one. then the teachers score how you speak… altough you haven’t practised that very often. so I want to get a little more practise to be more sure about talking. So i thought talking to native speakers would be the most effective.

Why is it they want you to avoid having an accent or sounding German? That would be like me trying to learn German and them telling me not to sound like a Yankee speaking German….your muscle memory might be hard to overcome since you have spoken your native language so long.
