Twitching after surgery: Normal?

Asked by xenopii (101points) July 17th, 2007

My dog had spinal surgery last Thursday. I brought him home yesterday. He can't use his back legs. I've noticed that, every now and then, he'll have a spell where his torso twitches. Not just once or twice, but for several minutes. Is this something I should be worried about? Or a normal part of recovery?

Yes, I was told it was an after effect of the anesthesia .

I've called the vet, and am waiting for him to call me back. The twitching seems to have subsided for now. Thanks to both of you!
