I would like to know if this would work. Please read below, it's a question regarding iOS devices. Thank you!

Do you think this would work? If I turn on hand-off so my iPad can be used for messages and phone calls, then I put a new sim into my iPhone with a different number. Would I still be able to receive and send from my regular number from my iPad? We don’t have google voice here.

Eh the apple store’s in town, I guess I could try ringing them. Thankyou @Buttonstc, 800 numbers don’t work here, I’m in Australia. I’m trying to find a way around google voice not working here.

Sorry about that. I thought 800 numbers were international.

Is there no number for Apple phone support in Aus. ? They really do have excellent people on their phone support. They’ve always been top rated for customer service with Consumer Reports plus other tech magazines.

And the best part about it is it’s free. I think you’ll likely have much better outcome from Apple than from Google.

My experience with Google is that they’re not in the people-helping business. I could never find any phone number for them at all. Even Amazon, as large as it is does have a phone number to get help with problems. Google? None at all.

Anyhow, I hope you can get things sorted out soon.

No…

The handed off phone calls to and from your iPad would always still route over your telephone. Changing the number of your phone will therefore change the number of the line past on to your iPad.

What you could do is forward the incoming call on your ‘old’ number to your new number before you change your sim. That may lead to extra costs though and would still only allow the incoming calls on your old number to be available after the sim card change.
