The entire Evil Dead series thrives on remakes. Evil Dead 2 WAS a remake of The Evil Dead. Army of Darkness was awesome.

And Ash vs. The Evil Dead isn’t a remake – it’s a standalone series based on the films. He’s still got the chainsaw.

@seek beat me to the proper answer here It is simply picking up the story line 30 years later. As long as there is hell born evil and gas for the chainsaw and bullets for the Boom Stick…the King will be there to take down the scourge in style!

He is trying to relive his past because his present is empty.
Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger with this recent crappy attempts at action movies including T5 and Sylvester Stallone and his “expendables” schlock.

Bruce Campbell has the distinction of being entertaining.

I agree @Seek….had BC not graced the front of the camera on any Evil Dead film it would be just another B movie. I have to give credit to the twisted vision of Sam Raimi who clearly needed to put this vision of his on celluloid and thankfully he did and more that he paired up with his High School pal Bruce Campbell and horror history was made and all started here
