Fluff time: are Jellies like Monarch butterflies, salmon, sea turtles, and bears, they drift away but something they can’t explain always draws them back to their home area, pond, or region?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) October 15th, 2015

With so many past Flutheronians seeming to come home to spawn, or back to the river to fish, I just mused if there was something secret to Fluther that even when you intend on staying away, you can’t (though it would never happen to me)?

I’m just glad you’re addressing some of the much neglected important news topics of today!

What the fuck is “sawn”?

talljasperman's avatar

@ibstubro I think he means spawn.

If we’re like all those life forms and can’t explain it, how the hell do you except any answers? :p

I never intended to stay away. I just drifted, and I guess that before I knew it all this time had passed.

It’s the same thing that brings you back home. The familiarity of it is comforting, even if your experiences are less than happy.

I often wish I could go back to Wis.dm.

Simple fact is, I never left.

Clearly the huge influx of veterans is around the travails besetting a great champion of this place. It’s a jaw dropping and extraordinary event. I haven’t checked, but I bet Lucky Guy’s at 50 GA’s and climbing for his single post. We periodically piss and moan on the melting away of the mainline talents inhabiting fluther and my cynical forecast was that we were in for a lingering version of wasting away. I doubt very much if anyone here believed there was any chance of reversing the “smell of death” associated with the site, and the pull of Gail Called is to my mind beyond belief. The big question that hovers and is constantly repeated here is will it last? Consistent with my wet blanket temperament I wouldn’t bet on it.

It might, or it might just lose steam and fade. I am sure if it did there would be a stain of it like Yarnapolooza some while back. I am but a walking shadow anyhow so whatever happens, it will be no game changer for me.

“Walking shadow” or not, your sheer output renders you lynchpin status here. “Strut and fret” on.

I would have thought just merely lynched….OK, poor joke but it was too juicy not to bite. Nah, no lynchpin here, cannon fodder, maybe. No surprise some are up on their Shakespeare here. ;->
