Have you come up with an innovative improvisation lately?

Asked by Coloma (47190points) October 15th, 2015

I am house sitting for 10 days right now and realized, tonight, I didn’t pack or lost my hair comb, and only have my hair brush.
I improvised by parting my freshly washed hair with a pencil. haha
Worked like a charm.
Have you come up with a creative improvisational solution to a wacky dilemma recently?

You grabbed your yogurt and ran off to work and forgot your spoon. Yogurts now come with the foil top seal that if you fold it over and over…bend and shape it a bit just right you can wind up with a McGyver quality spoon to gobble down the slimy goo.

Some weeks ago I had a presentation on the British government. Remembering the script was a pain because, you know, we were talking about the government. On the day of the presentation I was the first one in my group to present, as we had planned before. After some introduction, when it was the time for the main part, I realized in my horror that I forgot most of my script (probably because I was nervous). I only had the slideshow as a reminder, and there was very few words written there. I decided to just tell everyone what I understood, and occassionally drew on the board to explain. I ended up turning the presentation into a lecture, and my presentation ended up easier to understand than the real script. Everyone was impressed because they had never seen someone present my way.

@Cruiser But isn;t it only like a 2 inch long spoon all rolled up? Maybe you could tape a sick to your finger to to get the very last drop. haha

@Mimishu1995 That’s great! Sometimes a fortuitous moment ends up being just perfect.

I used a hair bun rat to scrub my bathtub because I was out of scouring pads (and I didn’t like the stuffed-bun look anyway).

^^^^ Hahaha…good one @Seek

Sure. I did some pretty cool stuff on the piano not too long ago.

@dxs You mean you had sex on your piano or painted on it or something like that? lol -;)

Hey, I really like the piano, okay?

I kept getting flats on my bike trailer so I took one of the old tubes that had too many holes, sliced it horizontally and use the outer portion of the spent tube as a tube liner for the new tube so the goatheads and other hazards would have to get through the tire and the old tube material first before they got to the tube holding the air.

We always have a bunch of random stuff on our kitchen table, like bills to pay, vitamin bottles, catalogs, pens, etc. When you want to eat there, you have to shove all that aside to make room. We routinely clean it off, but that is just where this stuff wants to live, so it quickly reverts to its original state. Annoying. We live in a small house with a severe lack of storage space, too.

I had this idea while falling asleep a couple of weeks ago, a plan to keep the stuff handy (essentially in the same place) but off the table top:

Unscrew the table top from the apron and re-attach it with just a piano hinge on one long side. Attach a piece of wood to the underside of the table apron, to form the bottom of a shallow ‘box’, with the table top as a hinged lid. Voila, an under-table storage spot for all that stuff! Have not implemented it, so there may be design flaws I’ve overlooked, but my husband thinks I’m a damn genius for coming up with the idea. ;)

@dxs Haha..Iwas razzing you because you said you did some pretty cool stuff “ON” the piano. :-p

@Hypocrisy_Central Very good, great idea!

@Hypocrisy_Central Ditto…wow, that was very clever!

^ Thank you, it has been working too, I have not gotten a flat (knock on wood) since I done it. :-)

Oops, I meant @augustlan ” Ditto…wow, that was very clever!”
