How is your weather behaving?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) October 26th, 2015

Though weather can change in a week’s span, right now, I am finding a lot of love for the weather here in California. Even though we are barking at the door of Halloween during the day it is very mild and balmy. Have no need to break out the winter gear or the rain gear, arms that are still bare abound, some women have not even mothballed the booty shorts and Daisy Dukes, and it is October, can you do that where you live? How is your weather, more like cold and ice, or sunny and warm?

Kinda mild for fall. It was a bit chilly today, though. Maybe 50s.

We’re in that lovely two weeks a year when it’s almost bearable in the early morning (and still hot as hell in the afternoon).

I’m hoping for a cold front this weekend so my face paint doesn’t melt off again.

Dry season is in full swing. If the hurricanes stay away, there’s should be little rain until spring.

Southern NY has been really nice this past few days- real autumn weather. A bit crisp in the morning, really nice during the day. Last week it was still pretty warm, which is unusual for this time of year in this spot. Last week it was like “long sleeves or short sleeves?” This week, definitely long sleeves. Still, a light jacket is enough. The leaves on the trees are orange and yellow and there are all kinds of pics on FB of the beautiful area that I live in – lakes, country roads, farm houses, lots of colors. We all dread what’s ahead, though…....

Here in Memphis, it’s been cool with four straight days of rain.

Hewanorra, St. Lucia. Rain. Lots and lots of vertical tropical rain interspersed with horizontal thundershowers. 84F.

Northern California is experiencing a combination of El Niño and climate change. Today was the first time in months the early morning temperature was below 58 in downtown San Francisco.

Typically atypical, here in Montana.
Alternating frost mornings with 78 degrees of sunshine.

Everybody says, “It sure is hot/cold today. Damned unusual.”

But it isn’t unusual at all. We ,live in an atmospheric “dip”. There is no normal here.

Usually, we have had regular frosts in the mornings by now and even a downfall or two of a bit of snow, but it has been incredibly mild. Finding the thermometer reading 10C in the mornings is reminiscent of the summer we just had, so it is very mild, indeed. The crystal ball readers at the national met service here are predicting a very mild winter and that makes me happy because I won’t have to panic over heating the house and power bills. This time last year, my panel heaters were on and the bathroom floor heat was the only way to make the morning showers comfortable, but not the case this year. No panel heaters and the very little radiant heat from the super efficient hot water tank is enough to keep the bathroom comfy. It is only the damp that I’ll be fighting, from the looks of my windows, which is really strange because normally our winters are very dry.

The wind was placed on the naughty step, all that farting was just too much.

Weather doesn’t behave – that makes it sounds as if it had a conscious decision to turn a particular way. Weather is inanimate and not senscient in the way you describe.

Having said that, it’s raining,

@elbanditoroso sort of a ‘figure of speech’... if speech had a figure, which it doesn’t .. perhaps a ‘turn of phrase’ if you could turn one, but you can’t really, but how about an ‘expression’ or a ‘euphemism’ or ‘communication that is not meant literally.’ English is weird.

It’s been mild in England, a bit like @cazzie‘s Norway. I’m in France on holiday and we had a slightly chilly lunch outside yesterday

Here in the Northern Midwest (Michigan) it’s been typical Fall weather. Nice cool days turning downright chilly when it is windy. But, overall, my favorite season of the year.

Stinley's avatar

Me too @Buttonstc. I love autumn

flutherother's avatar

Quite mild for the time of year in Scotland with temperatures in the upper 50’s.

Nebraska here.
You can definitely tell fall is acomin’
Yesterday it was windy and low 50’s/high 40’s.
Today it’s raining and low 40’s.
Night isn’t enjoyable without a jacket anymore—haha.

The temperatures have been far above average and I hate it. Fall is my favorite season and it hasn’t felt likeep it at all.

And, naturally, it rained all day today. Now my patio furniture is wet. Dammit.

Day 5 of constant rain here in Memphis. I’m an idiot. Apparently, it is caused by the tendrils of Hurricane Patricia. Mexico is experiencing flooding, and Texas isn’t faring much better. Where are our Lone Star State Jellies who should be reporting in?

dxs's avatar

@seek dry season? When I was in your area at this time of year it rained nearly every afternoon!

Seek's avatar

Summer is wet season, winter is dry season. Usually around November it dries out, and the rain comes back about March. Unless it’s a hurricane.

Last year was weird, I’ll admit. It never got cold (usually the first few weeks of Renn Faire are downright painful) and it never stopped raining.

DrasticDreamer's avatar

*like it. Autocorrect on my phone does some strange things sometimes.

DominicY's avatar

Underwhelming as usual here in NorCal. The weather here means nothing to me until it starts raining, otherwise we’ll be entering our 5th year of drought.

Seek's avatar

And I just wrote up to the sound of my gazebo collapsing in the rain. Fuck.
