Is gender equality a fact in modern-day India?

Yes. It is a fact among 98% of educated, urban or suburbial Indian society. It is only in extremely poverty stricken social levels or in extremely remote underdeveloped rural villages, that gender discrimination is still practised.
Among all Indian races, the Bengali Hindus are the most commendable in this regard. In most Bengali Hindu homes, women have always been held in very high esteem and have been accorded the same dignity and rights as men, from way way back as the 1880s.
