Blue Screen Error in Laptop?

Asked by StephanySteves (10points) November 22nd, 2015

I am using a Compaq CQ40 on Windows Vista with 4GB Ram, 320GB SATA HDD and onboard graphics.

Since a week, I am being faced with a lot of problems while booting. It either shows a blue screen error, reboots or freezes in between the boot. Takes me 5–10 minutes of constant tries to get it booted up. Even when if i manage to do that, it crashes or show a blue screen error and switches off while i work with it.

At times the laptop does not respond apart from the Caps and Scroll lock leds to blink continuously at the same time.

Please help me out, I am fed up trying to figure this out.

My initial hunch is a problem with RAM. You could try re-seating it. Or your copy of Windows is totally fucked and you will need to reinstall it.

Either way BACK-UP YOUR DATA RIGHT NOW. Every successful boot could be your last.

JP is right. Backup your data ASAP. I am the least computer literate person here, but I had the BSOD with my HP laptop and ran every antivirus/malware software I could get my hands on. Since my computer is my life blood of my business I went out and got a new laptop. The old one is still in my office and 2 years later and now boots up just fine.

Yup. Blue Screen Of Death. Welcome to the end of life of your computer.
