Is it true that the new iPhone spellchecks "lardass" into "Kardashian"?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) December 19th, 2015

I heard that on NPR today, I swear.

If it’s not true, I’m not sure I even really want to know.

Nope, not a joke.

Thanks. Made my night @johnpowell.

I think I hurt myself REAL bad . . . laughing uncontrollably.

Condolences, @Tropical_Willie. I hope it wasn’t TOO bad.

@johnpowell

But what happens when the second S is added?

If it’s only ONE S, it must be admitted that it does make a certain amount of logical sense.

Yes, I admit to being a little bit of a killjoy, but I’m curious to see what happens when that second S is added.

Same if you spell it all the way out.

It only seems to happen in Safari. I can’t get it to happen in any other app. I butt someone is probably having a very unemployed Christmass over this.

Kardashian the suggestion my android phone gives me for lardass.

That’s great!

Google web search also thinking that larda is perhaps leading to Kardashians

larda -> lardass or Karsashian
lardas -> lardass or Kardashians
lardass -> lardass

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

No Smart phone would be dumb enough to even utter that name.

@johnpowell

Oh that is just too funny for words :)

I think you’re right about unemployment for Christmas, unless someone figured out how to hide their tracks.

Does anyone know what the Kardashian’s reaction to this has been? Since they’re all so proud of their “junk in the trunk” and the plastic surgery craze it has spawned, they might find it either amusing or complimentary. Who knows?

It works in iOS everywhere. I just tried it in Notes, and Reminders.

Why would anyone type ‘lardass’ into an iPhone and why would anyone want to get ‘Kardashian’ back in reply? Am I missing something?

Buttonstc's avatar

@flutherother

Are you totally unaware that one of Kim Kardashian’s most frequently praised assets is her magnificent bubble butt?

Girls and women everywhere are trying to emulate her. So much so, that plastic surgery requeats for ass cheek implants have risen dramatically.

Just Google “how many people got butt implants”

Happy Reading !

(sorry, I can’t do c/p on this phone)

@ibstubro

Thanks :)

@flutherother

And I admit to having no idea why anyone would type “lardass” (prior to this current revelation). Obviously now there are tons of people checking it out, but I do wonder who was the first to make this wonderfully entertaining observation :)

zenvelo's avatar

Well, they are synonymous.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Lardass. No interference here.

Worked on my iPhone 6…

Thanks for the information, I was completely unaware of that until now. I have no interest in the Kardashians but I might look up butt implants.
