What should I eat before my morning high school exam?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24463points) January 18th, 2016

The English exam is one to six hours long on the 19th of January. Also what snacks should I bring to the exam?

Breakfast: just make sure what you eat doesn’t quickly convert to sugar. I’d go with 2–3 eggs, ½ of a baked sweet potato and a handful of berries. Also, don’t overeat or you’ll be uncomfortable and distracted.

Snacks to bring: beef jerky, a banana, a bottle of water.

@Cupcake How about 3 scrambled eggs and ketchup. 1 microwaved potato and some Oatmeal Crisp Triple Berry cereal?

I’d cut the potato in half. Also, the oatmeal crisp would give me a blood sugar crash partway through the test… I’d avoid it. I meant real berries. If not fresh berries, how about a small apple?

I will order out for a green apple and bunch of bananas.

Please don’t stay up to cram the night before. You’ve worked on this and have worked hard on building your skills, reading and getting your thoughts together.
Go to bed.
If you are a caffeine person, now isn’t the time to stop. Bring some along for the break points if it will help. Don’t overdo to the ‘Yeow!’- stage, mix with water breaks.
When snacking, do what feels right.
When they have a break, stand up. Move a bit, even standing by your chair if you wish, move your body, roll your head for neck and shoulders. Massage hands. Don’t put head down and seated. Move, tensions will ease.
Take some change for vending jusssst in case a craving hits. Feed it.
Comfy, loose- fitting clothes. No, jammies don’t work here. Layer for ability to stay warm or cool. Sometimes it is too cool. They aim for cool-ish. If hot, say something or don’t wear hole-ee underwear to shed ( drastic, but stylish if hot ) :) kidding, just kidding.
I will say it again and again. Peppermints!!! Eat peppermint before and into beginning. Throughout if you wish. Wrapper noise quiet, however.

Try to refrain from yelling “Ok everybody, here we go!” You will scare the timid and make the proctor walk near you. A lot.
Muttering? Gee, verdict is out on this, however it may clear you more space around you by people moving away!
It sounds silly, but cover your work that is done. I know, I know, but don’t spread open answers from previous work, nor outlines all over your ‘space’.
Glance at contents of the current section. Not pour over, just get an idea.
Do not go ahead to look at the next test. You will be done for good and gone.
No drum solos with the pencils if you get done early. Re-read your essay, paragraphs, whatever, but don’t beleaguer the point. Go with first choice on questions to fill in. If it helps, re-read the question again half way through on essays. Do a quick outline on the test booklet
or your paper (ask if ok) it helps keep you from wandering off the subject to end up discussing the merits of buying popcorn at the movies… from discussing poetry. Stick to subject.
Listen to instructions from beginning. Is it better to finish, or better to spend time? Listen.
If it is timed, look at watch to gauge times. You can go back for sentence structure at the end.
Take tissues. Not the box, but enough.
Did I say peppermints? :)
You will do great. Relax. You’ve got this. You will be on my mind. Heck, everyone here will send you good vibes. Let us know you survived.
You know that bad-for-you dinner you love? Afterwards, go forth and sin. Dinner! I meant dinner! :D
Peeeppppeeerrrmmmiiiinnnntttts.
Good luck- and a hug.
