Can you help me find this movie/tv show with a scene in a 50's diner?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) January 18th, 2016

Hey all, so very vague, but something that I just had a weird recollection of, I recall a movie, or tv show or something extremely vaguely, that had some sort of cafe, or 50’s diner that was “hidden” somehow, and was used as a meeting place for some special group of people, not sure what it was.

I kind of thought it may be supernatural, but I don’t think so, it wasn’t something public people could get to.

I was wondering if anyone else might have an idea of what this might be from.

You sure have a lot of vague memories. I suggest hypnosis for help with your total recall. lol

Check out the Twilight Zone episode: Mr Dingle, The Strong from 1961.

It’s not twilight zone, it was a color program, I feel like it also might have been hidden in the clouds or something like that. Really bugging me that I can’t recall it.

@Coloma I’d gladly go if they could remove some too.

The Blue Whale tavern in Dark Shadows?

Haven’t seen that unfortunately.

Unfortunately not, though it does look interesting.

I have a feeling I’ll never remember what its from.

There was a TV series called Roswell and the parents of one of the teen (aliens ) had a diner serving space themed dishes called The Crash down Cafe.

The group would frequently meet there after school and other times.

Yet somehow I cannot help but think that they got the idea from Spider Robinson’s Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon series of books.

@Buttonstc Pretty close, and maybe it’s a mix of that and something else, I did love that series.

The more I think of it though, I feel like there was some sort of special meeting between a couple people, and maybe there were others in the diner that were assumed to be regular people but they actually were not, I’m not entirely sure, I wish I could remember it more clearly, gaah, I feel like it’s right on the tip of my tongue.

Maybe from some old x files episode, I’m not sure though.

The outer limits? They were in color.

The Kid, with Bruce Willis and Lilly Tomlin. The diner doesn’t show up much. At 1:53 of this trailer you see the interior a little. The diner is at the airport.
