Is there any way to clean up the contents of the "Most Visited" smart bookmark in Firefox 3?

Asked by aidje (3662points) July 25th, 2008

I have a few sites in my “Most Visited” smart bookmark that are redundant. For instance, Gmail is showing up four times, as “https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox”, https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox”, https://mail.google.com/mail/”, and “https://mail.google.com/”. Is there a way to eliminate this clutter other than by always bookmarking the very last page in the set of redirects? (Even that would only get rid of two of these entries, still leaving me with two rather than one.)

You can delete them by going to Bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks then go to All Bookmarks > Bookmarks Toolbar > Smart Bookmarks > Most Visited and then select them all and delete them. However if you click of that bookmark set and click back onto them then it refreshes with the next 10 most visited. So you can sort it like that but it’s completely dynamic. I presume it pulls if from your history…so you just clear your history which then leads to another problem. But my advice is only based on what I’ve just looked at as opposed to strong facts :)
