Do you believe this?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) February 9th, 2016 from iPhone

As per Richard Snowden, Osama bin Laden is very much alive and enjoying life with his wives at Bahamas. What is your reaction to this?

Nothing to relate to. Do you have a link?

It sounds bogus. A scare tactic to sow public mistrust in the government.

Snowden wrote/said that somewhere?

If he really did, I’d probably tend to believe it, just because he seems slightly less likely to make up stuff than either the government or the media, and the whole “Bin Laden is an evil mastermind” drama seems like a story for pandering to a pathetic public, to me.

I don’t think it particularly matters one way or the other, because I think Osama Bin Laden is a false focus more than an actual thing to relate to as the government and media are so keen on having us relate to it.

Oh, I see you just now posted a link…

Got anything other than a random clickbait blog to confirm this?

I think it’s plausible that something like that could be true, but it looks like Snowden may not have said that at all, nor did anyone else except silly web sites like WorldNewsDailyReport.com and “USA Politics Today”, whose other stories seem to be mainly crazy nonsense.

I don’t care enough to believe it or not.

USA Politics Today looks to be the equivalent of the Weekly World News with a conservative target audience.

I believe everything I hear on the Internet. It’s technology, so it has to be true.

World News Daily Report, who got the scoop on this story, says this on its website:

“WNDR assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle.”

Is there any money in this busllshit? If so, why don’t we flutherites submit the wildest shit we can think of every morning, put it on our own world news website, then use the advertising money to pay somebody to maintain Fluther and put in some new options per the present question on Meta. I for one can think up better shit than Infowars and I’ll bet my fellow flutherites can too. We can make Augie managing editor—a paid position. She can even use a nom-de-plum if she wants (but her avatar must forever be the leather mistress with the whip). Finally, we can all be writers, going to work every day together in the mansion.

It kinda looks like the two shots had the same photog who put OJ’s booking pix on the cover of – what was it- Time or Newsweek? Not only did Bin Laden get younger in the pix, but he got botox!
As far as believing it? I would take it into consideration, perhaps, but not much further.
But. Stranger things happen every day.

Yep, there is. My favorite style though is satire like The Onion or The Colbert Report.

Sounds good. Let’s do it.
