“Onions are very toxic to cats. Onions contain a substance (N-propyl disulphide) which destroys red blood cells in the cat, causing a form of anemia called Heinz body anemia. Garlic contains a similar substance in a lesser amount.”

A large enough volume of onions will cause hemolytic anemia in cats.

My cat always goes to the onion bag to eat the onion skins. Don’t ask me why.
