Well theres some interesting beliefs to say the least
“Satanists do not believe in the supernatural, in neither God nor the Devil. To the Satanist, he is his own God. Satan is a symbol of Man living as his prideful, carnal nature dictates. The reality behind Satan is simply the dark evolutionary force of entropy that permeates all of nature and provides the drive for survival and propagation inherent in all living things. Satan is not a conscious entity to be worshipped, rather a reservoir of power inside each human to be tapped at will. Thus any concept of sacrifice is rejected as a Christian aberration—in Satanism there’s no deity to which one can sacrifice.”

The question is, does your friend actually believe this stuff, or is he/she just doing it for the whole shockvalue of saying they are?

@uber, you know what, my immediate thought was that it was in fact for the shock value but he seemed really into it. i mean, like, he bought the “bible” and talked about it to me all the time, who he knows isnt easily disturbed by anything so. he used to really believe in not holding back your emotions and shit like that.

Lavey was a Hollywood whore, and a hedonist. It was so “in” to be a part of his “church” in the 70s. Its an excuse to fulfill all of your impulses and desires, without regard for others or the world in general.

I would say that many people follow these practices without (realizing that they belong to) the label of “LaVeyan Satanism.”

Black masses seem pointless and a way to foster the “bad” qualities that are listed as the Satanic Sins.

I would guess that it’s a liberating philosophy of sorts, but it requires letting go of the assumption that we are all manifestations of a “universal consciousness.” So, it puts all its eggs in a basket that is “limited” by human comprehension.

Satans’ best lie to the world is that he doesn’t exist.

@seVen – Bravo seVen you never fail to NOT back up your opinion!! What would we ever do with out you?

To answer the question Satanists are stupid in my opinion and really just blow a lot of hot air. Your friend in the end probably is in it for the shock value.

This sort of Satanist is rather tame to speak of. Laveyan Satanists don’t believe in Satan. They believe in the carnality of man. Basically, if it feels good and it doesn’t hurt anyone unwillingly, then do it.

i believe in everyone doing what they want to do as long as they don’t hurt anyone else.
Lavey was more about the glam of it all.

@trance24 Telling anyone they’re chosen religion is wrong. Their reasons for doing whatever are they’re own and they are free to experience whatever they choose. Calling them stupid is like calling all Catholic’s hipocrites….oh, wait….they are! JK!

I personally believe that Satanism is stupid. I read the Satanic bible and Satanic witch, which seemed nothing more than Antons spin on Nietzsche’s philosophical views, which Anton grossly misunderstood to begin with. Anton’s writing style is witty so the comical value in his writing was there but to follow his rhetoric would have rendered me dumb as well.

Satanism is an excuse for anyone to overindulge and pass up exercising self discipline or the desire to cultivate positive habits. It is only self serving and subjective at best. There is no truth in it. Yes we are animals but our ability to reason sets us higher. To ignore that is a dangerous thing.

Satanism also attracts weak minded people, gives them something to stand behind that in a sense props them up. When weak willed people who lack the ability to show class or argue knowledgeably lash out, they can always say it was keeping in accord to their beliefs in Satanism. In that sense they do become nothing more than animals.

Most people I know who have been involved in Satanism are emotionally unstable, narcissistic, and completely self serving to the point it makes them narrow minded.

Making excuses is the puritanical Satanist’s modus operandi .
