Who did the "dance"?

Asked by Jak (3605points) March 14th, 2016

A few years ago James Earl Jones had a stroke. There seemed to be some sort of a push to show that he was okay. He was in a commercial for something, I can’t remember what. But at one point there was some silly dance that he did, more like an aggressive walk really, and I swear it was not him. It looked more like Ron Perlman than anybody. Does anybody else remember this or did I dream it?

I checked the tube. OMG, he has done a lot of commercials! I’m still looking.

I looked too. Apparently it was verizon, but I can’t find it on you tube. I saw where other people also thought the dancer was not him. That, at least, makes me feel better. Thx fir taking the time to answer.

“We ask James Earl Jones to do a lot of things,” a Verizon spokesman tells us, “but one thing we don’t ask him to do is break-dance.” A body double and some clever film editing make it seem that Jones, 72, is bustin’ those moves. Of course, the actor’s rich, resonant voice (familiar to “Star Wars” fans as Darth Vader) has been a staple of telecommunications advertising since he began promoting the Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages in 1989.
