Do you prefer bar soap or liquid soap.?

Asked by nightwolf5 (2958points) March 16th, 2016

I prefer liquid soap, because it is easier. Bar soap can tend to drop too easy, and with liquid you can get out just the right amount.

So, which do you prefer and why?

I use bar soap and lather up in a frothy mess and then step out of the stream of water and go nuts on my body with one of these.

I have one of those too that I use. It’s a blue one.

They are fantastic. Dead skin goes down the drain.

I prefer liquid soap. I just don’t like how the soap gets messy. I use a block of soap for handwashing, just not in the shower or bath. I also prefer to use one of these in the shower. I used to buy the things @johnpowell suggested, but I prefer a sponge. I like to use a loofah brush too sometimes. Give my body a good old brush before I shower.

I like washing my hands with liquid soap but prefer bar soap and a washcloth in the shower—for no particular reason other than it’s a lifetime habit. Ocassionally, I do use liquid soap, but the brands I’ve used don’t soap up as much as I like with bar soap.

I use liquid soap by the bathroom sink and kitchen sink, for hand washing. It’s quick and clean.

Bar soap in the shower.

Nothing but liquid soap for me. I like the convenience and the fact that it’s contained to a certain, small, footprint.
I remember all that gunky bar soap mess.

I don’t have a strong preference either way. I like soaps that lather well and smell good. I go out of my way to avoid those liquid soaps with those wax beads in them, but I do like the ones with natural exfoliants like apricot pits and walnut shells.

There was a soapmaker I used to buy from who made exfoliant bar soaps. That was pretty awesome.

Liquid soap. More hygienic. If there are others in the house, you don’t have to wash the soap before using it. Easier to handle. I use loofa in the same manner as @johnpowell uses a squishy. They grow wild here and I like the idea of just walking out my door and taking what I need directly from the earth. It’s my hippie remnant thinking. I also try not to use petroleum products when this is so convenient. I use brick soap on the dogs.

Liquid. Bar soap hurts my girly parts. I get an allergic reaction from most of them.

I use liquid soap usually but prefer a bar in the shower as liquid soap off too fast.

Liquid soap for everything. I hate the gunk bars leave behind when you put them down.

Liquid soap is the natural evolution.

At one time, all soap used in the home was in bar form. By use of a clever contrivance such as a soap saver you could suds up water for washing.

Detergents weren’t developed until 1916 and didn’t become common until WW ll and after.

Before people perfected lye, all soap was soft.
