What books would be a good source of research concerning wars and corruptions influenced by religion?

Asked by NerdyKeith (5489points) April 15th, 2016

I am asking as I am writing a novel. In this novel I have a group of characters that belong to an extremist religious group. So therefore I need to research to rep holy wars that actually occurred in history.

When I say influenced by religion, I strictly mean extreme interpretations of Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Barbara Tuchmann’s Bible and Sword: England and Palestine from the Bronze Age to Balfour should do it.

Just about any standard history book you can pull off the shelf.
