What do you think of the Bios Urn?

It turns beloved’s ashes
into a tree which can be wirelessly monitored.

Icky? Not at all. It’s exactly what a lot of people who commented on the “cremation” thread would find desirable.

Thanks for the link, I’ll use it to show my kids how I’d like to be disposed.

I loved the comment from one of the thread responders there: DiFi.

Otherwise, it’s just a clever trick to encourage people to dispose of the ashes themselves, so that no one else has to bother with them. (Because the mass of ash would simply sit where it was planted, and would not “become the tree”. The mass of material that forms the plant: the woody stem, the leaves, the roots and even most of the sap in the tree – comes from the atmosphere, and very little from the ground. The ground simply holds the thing in place.)

I viable option.

I wonder if at some point they will expand their product line and we will be able to turn our deceased loved ones into a fruit tree or perhaps tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, cabbages or some other useful plant.?

I like the tree part. The electronics seem like a way “monetize” and ruin the idea.
