How can I solve the value of F?

Asked by xichyu (222points) May 14th, 2016

We assume a prism is stuck into the soil which is homogeneous. The density of soil is p. Other parameters of soil are constant, and which can be displaced by letters. The initial depth was 1 m,then the depth is 3 m by the force F. F is applied on the center of the prism. The length of prism is L,the weitht is G.

Do you assume the soil is a liquid, or is force required to push it aside?

The soil can be assumed as cohesive soil, and the force F result in increasing of depth of the prism
