Fluff time: How hot temperature wise, is too hot to use the convertible with the top down (or off if it is a convertible hardtop)?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) May 31st, 2016

It is a de facto survey question of no importance we just love around here, but it is pretty much as stated, how hot is too hot to use the convertible as a convertible?

I wouldn’t use mine if it were 90 or above.

80 degrees.

85 is really pushing it. It would depend how long the trip is, what I was wearing, and where I was going. It also matters if the sun is pounding down on me or not.

No limit, I like the top down. I used to ride motorcycles in full leather at 90+ degrees without thinking twice though.

On the freeway, okay up to 110 F.

Around town, up to 105.

But best to wear a cap, sunglasses, and have cooler full of water on ice handy.

I’ve never ridden in a convertible with the top down.

I imagine it’s much like riding with the windows open, with less shade.

In that case, the temperature isn’t as big a deal as direct sunlight. I’d prefer a cloudy day.
