Why do I see my veins?

Asked by Sneki95 (7017points) August 7th, 2016

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could help me here.
I can see my veins on my chest and breasts (I’m female) very clearly. Sometimes, I can see them on my thighs and arms, especially on my wrists and hands too, although not as clear. There is no bulging or anything, I just see them through my skin. I wonder why is that and if it means anything.
Thanks in advance. Have a nice day! :)

Skin is easily penetrated by light, especially ultraviolet.

That’s why my beard is still visible even right after shaving.

It also helps if you do not have a large amount of melanin in your skin.

You have veins near the surface of your skin. You have veins at all depths of your skin; everyone does. It is actually a healthy sign, it means you don’t have a lot of fat on you.

Is the appearance of veins something that’s always been there for you, or is the visibility of veins on your breasts something new? Also, how old are you?

Some of you asked me further questions and I don’t know how to answer to each of you, so I am replying like this.
I am 21, I have noticed this recently. Also, I an not thin at all, a bit overweight actually. I have noticed the veins on my breasts quite recently. In fact, yesterday I looked at myself and saw my veins very clearly. It kind of worried and surprised me because I never saw it so clearly before.

Are you pale? I’m pale and can see veins in all the same places as you. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

It could be absolutely nothing. However, visible veins can be connected to pregnancy or other breast issues. Is pregnancy a possibility? Long and short is that if you’re concerned, talk to your doctor. Better to put your mind at rest, and if you do notice a change in your body, it’s always better to get expert advice.
