Did anyone besides me keep their children's "tooth fairy" teeth?

Asked by MooCows (3216points) August 11th, 2016

I am not a real sentimental person but I did keep
all of my two son’s baby teeth that were put under
their pillows.
I also have the complete newspaper from the day
they were born. Anyone do that?

I did, and a good thing, too.

I trained my sons to put the newly lost tooth in an envelope addressed to the tooth fairy, so I wouldn’t have to feel around under the pillow for a single tooth that could wander anywhere; an envelope would be easy to feel for. After the swap, I actually put the envelopes—tooth and all—into a folder in my filing cabinet under T.

But one time a tooth came out kind of bloody, and I rinsed it in the sink. Whoops, the darned thing slipped right out of my fingers and went down the drain. Quick-quick, I made an excuse and went to my filling cabinet, where I grabbed a random envelope from the Tooth folder, ripped it open, and returned a tooth to my son. Catastrophe averted.

If he ever caught on to me, he never let on.

I did save a couple, my daughter has them now, somewhere. She is 28.
When I was a kid a friends mom had glued the lost teeth of her and her brother into the gaping mouth of a ceramic Hippopotamus. The weirdest thing ever! haha
I will never forget that thing sitting on a shelf in their living room. haha

I was cleaning out a drawer a couple months ago, and found some of my daughter’s. She is leaving for college in a week, and asked her if she wanted them. She looked at me like I am crazy.

@zenvelo Hahaha, dad, ya old fogie!

My son has lost four teeth so far. Two the dentist took because of an abscess, and he didn’t give them to me. One was lost while he was having daddy time, and got lost. I have the fourth in an old ring box.

I have one of my daughter’s milk teeth that cost me 20p. Why I kept this particular one I don’t know.

My daughter had some decay in her molar which came out recently. She wrote a note for the tooth fairy apologising for her “disgusting rotten tooth”. I’ve kept the note and the tooth.

@Stinley, that must have been the cutest letter! Do you remember what else she wrote in that note?

I have most of my daughter’s. She’s thirteen now.

@ZEPHYRA I’ll try and find it and post a pic. It was adorable!

No—I never had kids—but I’ve got a curl of my own baby hair my mother gave me long ago. It’s more than 70 years old and in perfect condition.

My mom did. She kept them in an small green jar.

I haven’t kept my kid’s teeth, tho.

Just today I saw this on why we should keep baby teeth!

Here is the note my daughter wrote. Too cute

@Stinley Cute! I once wrote my daughter a note from the tooth fairy and gave her a name..” Sophia.” My daughter was convinced the TF was named Sophia for years. haha

Bless her heart!

When my son was about 9 he went on a tooth loosing rampage. He could almost pull them out at will. Every time he needed money he’d pull a tooth and try to extort money from me, promoting them as “silver and ivory artifacts.” I love my son.
