I had not heard of Slenderman until this question. From Wikipedia I found this:

@Luckyguy I guess you have never heard of this case then? Two girls tried to kill another girl, a friend of theirs, because they thought it would get them in the good graces of Slenderman.

@chyna I remember seeing that on the news and is one of the most messed up stories I have ever read/seen.
