Ever since I was a kid , I had problems waking up in the morning. What worked for you to combat sleep drunkenness or sleep inertia?

Lights. For a while I had real problems waking up to regular alarms so I set a timer on a floor lamp that shone directly at my face. Having that light on my face at 6:03 a.m. woke me up like nothing else ever could.

I also find that I have to balance the amount of sleep I get very carefully. Too much sleep is as bad for me as too little.

Own a cat. Mine wakes me up every morning PROMPTLY at 6 yowling for his breakfast. That Siamese yowl literally wakes up the dead.

an alarm clock that is out of arm’s reach, so you would actually have to get up to turn it off.

The night before focus on anything that gives you something to look forward to, this will then become the first semi-conscious thought that your resting brain will register, thus waking you up.

@ragingloli , I tried that. An alarm clock near me plus an alarm clock across the room. It’s amazing how I could sleep through both and/or turn them off and go back to sleep.

@Pachy , my old dog once woke me up by pissing on my foot after I’d promised him (a few times ) to get up and let him outside. That did help when he did his gotta pee bark in later years.

Going to bed really early the night before.

I had no problem waking up until I went to work for my father in my mid-twenties. Enormous amount of hours. But he solved the problem. For awhile there was no money to pay me, so I slept on his couch for at least a year. Every morning I would awaken to a cluster of keys being shook two inches from my face, his cigar smoke blown directly at me and his incessant. “C’MON, BOY! TIME TO GO! WE’VE THINGS TO DO, PLACES TO GO, PEOPLE TO SEE! MOVE IT! MOVE IT! MOVE IT!” We ran a string of bars and a couple restaurants. When he eventually sold them off, I got paid very well.

Well, to those that are married (but those who are not do use it I am sure) is to have your wife service your dumbstick and then mount it and ride like there is no tomorrow; you will be a awake on the quick side!

The better way is to set an alarm on a fixed time. When do you want to wake up in the morning? On the otherhand you can take care some pigeon. They wake up too early and make noise among others. You couldn’t sleep well if you hear the noise.

If you drink caffeine, kicking the habit can help a lot.

If you’re depressed that can make the morning more difficult.

Going to bed earlier.

I think some people naturally are not morning people, and then the morning is always difficult.

Maybe you should get a musical alarm clock like this: Musical alarm or another

Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning including the weekends. Also get at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise everyday.

I offer this to you as for the longest time I woke up groggy and dead tired and after years of nagging by my wife over my snoring which I was oblivious to because I was asleep I experimented with this anti snoring device and I am not only sleeping like a baby I wake up refreshed and raring to go. I notice a HUGE difference if I forget to pop this in my mouth at bed time as I am grumpy and tired the next day. FWIW, this device is twice the cost of other models but very worth it as I have tried a couple others and they don’t even come close to working as well as the Snore RX.

Before you go to sleep, plan an activity for the following day.

Disclaimer:- I assume that you are able to control pee when you sleep.
Drink nearly half a liter of water before going to bed and just think at what time you want to wake up.
Your sleep will be disturbed due to nature’s call at the time you decided before you slept and that irritation will make you jump out of your bed and land in the toilet.
You’ll feel immense pleasure to make your bladder light. So, use that feeling to stay away from the bed then.

I hope this helps you.
Cheers
