Who won the debate between VP candidates Tim Kaine and Mike Pence?

Asked by flo (13313points) October 5th, 2016

Among your friends and family etc. do Mike Pence supporters say he won and whoever is supporting Tim Kaine say he did?

I am supporting Hillary.

Pence won the debate, because Kaine was quite annoyingly interrupting every question. Pence had a smooth radio voice, and seemed in better control.

Kaine, however, wins the post debate. Fact checkers are able to point out the hundreds of misrepresentations and flat out lies Pence made.

I didn’t watch it but were there some or a lot of legitimate interruptions?

Is it posssible that the one who interrupted the less had not much to correct?

Pence by a mile. Kaine was on the attack and pence remained calm, collected and on task.

I think the people who didn’t watch were the winners.

Neither, in my opinion. Kaine came off more knowledgeable but kept losing his cool. Pence madd a better appearance but came off as rvadive and untruthful. I doubt the debate will have much of any effect.

Where’s Joe Biden when you need him?

Most people say Pence did better. I think he had the edge too.

That debate started out badly. Kaine interrupted right out of the gate. I kind of like when the candidates get to talk a little back and forth, but this was really talking over Pence. Not good.

Kaine also threw in the word supremist in the very beginning, which really turned me off.

I know more than one person who turned it off after 30 minutes, because they were bored or annoyed. It’s a shame because the last 20 minutes when Kaine got to do his schtick regarding his personal beliefs and being pro choice is so incredibly good! I’ve seen him say it once before. It’s a speech about our country being a country of laws, about religious freedom, about having a right over our medical decisions and our bodies. Too bad they didn’t start with that topic.

Both of them tried to sneak in their talking points and twist the words of the other. I hate that. Such a big turn off for me.

Pence had better style and Kaine had better substance. Kaine is getting shit for interrupting but he was pretty much saying “That is a Lie” when Pence was you know, actually lying.

Pence won the debate from the perspective of actually debating and maintaining a sense of self control combined with clear concise presentation of his thoughts. Kaine won the battle in the sense that I perceived his main goal was to hammer Pence repeatedly with gotcha questions and comments all to get sound bites and snippets of Pence pausing, shaking his head, hemming and hawing and generally looking unable to defend Donald Trump all for later use in campaign ads. In that regard he hit a home run as creative out of context editing will produce some very unpleasant ads against Trump. On that note though, Trumps team could make a hilarious ad with a montage showing Kaine getting redder, redder and redder throughout the course of the debate. I truly thought Kaines head would explode there towards the end.

It will be interesting tonight with the “grab em by the pussy” issue hanging in the air.
