Never heard anyone got sick through eyes.

Yep, the eyes have mucus membranes like the mouth and nose where the virus is absorbed into the body. If you must touch your eyes or face use the back of your arm or back of your hand.

Yes, you potentially can catch the virus in this manner, but whether you actually get sick in this particular instance is another matter. That’ll depend on the number of virus particles that managed to get past your front-line defenses (tears, mucus, etc.), the state of your immune system, and whether you have any immunity (maybe even partial) to this particular virus strain.

She’s been sick for 4 days now and I haven’t got it yet but I’m exhausted today – so I think I might get it… Hopefully not though – fingers crossed!

Yup. Like my mom always said, don’t touch your face! Eyes, nose, and mouth are the ways the virus can get in. I wouldn’t worry about her touching your eye, she’s so little that her germs are on you and you likely have touched your eyes or nose anyway.

If you don’t get it by day 5 of your daughter being sick you are likely in the clear. She was contagious before she showed symptoms so more likely you would be sick already.

yeah I still don’t have it – feeling tired and a little sick but nothing like how she was.
so fingers crossed, I’m a terrible sick, especially if a fever is involved!

Yes…if the rinovirus enters the mucus membrane around your eye. It’s exceedingly rare, though, and almost requires direct contact.
