What does it mean on an iPhone when instead of showing an "E" symbol for edge, it shows a rectangle with a hole in the center?

it happens pretty regularly, just curious. I have a first generation iPhone.

You have a GPRS signal only. ie no EDGE. Its a change brought on by the 2.0 software update. Before the update you only got a square with no circle.

It’s worse than Edge.

I’ve seen this also.

My major and continued gripe about the 2.0 and 2.0.1 updates is that my camer shutter is very slow. If it doesn’t get fixed soon, I’ll probably quit using the camera all together except for still shots.
