Can you take a test drive with only a learners licence ?

No. you have to have a driver’s license to test drive a car. And the dealership’s insurance would not allow that even if they wanted to accommodate you.

Ask the dealer.

Some of them have coverage for that exact purpose. Not all do. I’ve worked for a few carriers that offer it.

@BellaB You’ve got to be kidding. How can someone without a drivers license drive on the road?

@anniereborn , with a learner’s level license (in a graduated licencing program),learners can drive with a licensed person in the car with them. Since many dealers require a salesperson in the car for test drives, it’s not much of an additional premium. Learners are also (in some jurisdiction) limited to the types of roads they can drive on, reducing the exposure.
