Have you had to deal with the Windows 10 ”Automatic Repair”?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) January 18th, 2017

Working away, one of my machines said some error occurred and the PC had to reboot to correct it. I could not cancel it or do anything, and the machine counted down and restarted. Got to the Windows screen and the words ”Preparing Automatic Repair”, then is tried to launch, but all it did was blip something quickly on the screen then when to black and gets stuck there, does nothing. Closing the lid doesn’t even put the machine to sleep, it is stuck and the only way to get out of it is a hard boot. I have not even been able to boot up in Safe Mode. Has anyone had to deal with this and what was your outcome?

I don’t have a Windows 10 set up. But it sounds like you picked up a nasty virus somewhere.
