While we know America is "First" from now on, does this video make a case for the Netherlands being "Second"?

I’ll make it three. I am still chuckling about it.

Do you know what “america first” translates to in German?
“Deutschland, Deutschland über alles.”

@ragingloli We had the same trouble in New Zealand with a party that called themselves ‘New Zealand First’ back in the ‘90’s. They had a very charismatic leader… still do, from the news I read from ‘back home’. He has changed his tune to a degree, but it is still the same bullshit.

We had similar thing in the 90s too, the “Great Serbia” propagated by Seselj. He’s been in jail for war crimes for decades, but now he’s back and may as well run for president.

It is almost like humans never learn from history.

Sneki95's avatar

@ragingloli Exactly, which is why we fail as a nation in surviving at least half a century without war. The more I think about it, the more it looks like we pretty much deserved half of our history.

Well lets be honest there are several of Trumps policies (or twitter comments, its hard to tell the difference sometime) that are somewhat reminiscent of 1930’s German policy’s. In particular the registration of all Jews living in the US and the banning of Jews travelling to the US.

I’m surprised he hasn’t ordered leather trench coats for the army yet.

Sneki95's avatar

@Lightlyseared I still don’t get what have Jews done to be that much resented through history.

@Sneki95
Responsible for Jesus’ death. Pretty much the reason for historical Antisemitism in Europe.

Sneki95's avatar

@ragingloli Well…uh… that’s humanity for you, I guess. ( ._.).

@Sneki95 @ragingloli Jews were also resented for being moneylenders and charging interest (e.g. The Merchant of Venice), something that used to be considered a sin and not allowed for Christians to do, before they conveniently forgot about that being evil.

ragingloli's avatar

@Zaku
And that was because Jews were not allowed by the Christian powers to join the christian run trade guilds or own land, were thus basically banned from practicing most trades and professions, and had therefore not much choice but to engage in money lending to earn a living.

Oh that is good.
I bet if The Donald has seen it he probably laughed his arse off.
THAT is good humor.
“We built an ocean between us and Mexico.”
Funny stuff.

Weird, funny. The German was easier to follow than I expected.
Mean trick how they skewed the map, but funny in a sick way.
