Can you make a salad dressing sort of like a raspberry vinaigrette using kiwi jam?

Asked by Judi (40025points) February 5th, 2017

Would it be gross? I’m making a salad with pears and feta cheese and we have company coming. I don’t have any raspberries and the idea of using this kiwi jam fascinates me. If it were just me I would just try it but since we have company coming I’m a bit insecure. What do you think?

I’m thinking yes.

Add it to balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and salt. I like just a little Dijon mustard too.

You can always try making it and if you don’t like the way it tastes, don’t use it on the salad.

It should keep in the refrigerator for a week or so.

@cazzie I only have the jam that my friend gave to me. I don’t have any fresh Kiwi

If I were a planner both trying it and throwing it out or making it with fresh kiwi’s would be an option but since I love in the country and don’t have a back-up I’m kind of stuck. (No trips to town today and guests are coming tonight.
I made it as @Tropical_Willie said. I’ll probably test it out but it seems to be alright. Maybe a little to tart. I added a bit of honey.

The jam is just kiwi fruit and sugar, that’s two of the ingredients in this recipe.

How did the dressing work out?

@JLeslie, it was alright. Not fabulous though.
