Home made blueberry pancakes here with a side of fresh blackberries drizzled in honey. Deeeeelicious!

JLeslie's avatar

I had lasagna and broccoli and Entenmann’s cc bit cookies for dessert.

Kardamom's avatar

I had 3 slices of a frozen pesto Margherita pizza, with a side of kimchi and a glass of iced coffee.

JLeslie's avatar

^^How can a pizza be pesto and margherita?

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

It’s really hot here. Steak, cooked on the barbie, with some salad.

Kardamom's avatar

@JLeslie It had both red sauce, and dollops of pesto on top, and tomatoes.

JLeslie's avatar

^^As long as it still is the colors of the flag I guess it’s ok.

Coloma's avatar

Crap..I just noticed the ? mark after ‘pt. 3” and it’s too late to edit. Oh well. haha

Everyones dinners sound so good. :-)

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

It’s been about 46 (114) degrees here. Simple, easy food is the order of the day. Cooking a steak is going to be about the most anyone wants to do. It’s 4 pm and still 41 (106). Crazy weather.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

A large pile of Escargots with garlic, parsley and butter.

Stinley's avatar

I had veggie curry. I’m on a camp with my younger daughter so helping with 23 8–10 year olds. Such fun…
Luckily it’s a catered place so we don’t have to cook for them. Food“s ok too.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

I had two filet mignon medalions, one with Bernaise and the other with sauce brune on top (called noir et blanc here), a kind of rice provençal and thick slices of portobelo mushrooms sauteed in garlic. Not bad for hospital food. And they let me have seconds.

Berserker's avatar

Entrails and some guy’s ears.

Brian1946's avatar

Two stalks of celery with hummus, 3 green chili tamales with Kirkland medium salsa, and a pear.

ragingloli's avatar

Chef surprise…we plan to fire him right after pudding is served, you could say he’s getting his just desserts…hahahahahahahahahahahahaha <hiccup>

I ate vegetarian curry for dinner. The story behind it is more interesting than the food itself. It will be my late uncle’s anniversary in 3 weeks. The tradition is that a large meal is made for the extended family to gather. My aunt can’t cook well and doesn’t have enough money to hire a cook, so she turned to my mom for help. The uncle was a vegetarian so the meal has to be a vegetarian one. So for the last 3 days mom has been learning to cook vegetarian food to prepare for the anniversary, and we become her guinea pigs. I have to say she is improving.

jca's avatar

Last night I went to Panera with my 9 year old daughter. I had Green Goddess salad and a half a barbecue chicken flatbread. She had chicken noodle soup and barbecue chicken salad.

Love_my_doggie's avatar

Omnivorous husband РShrimp and broccoli florets saut̩ed in a lemon-butter sauce, tossed with spaghetti.

Vegetarian me – White-bean and carrot curry, tossed with cubes of roasted butternut squash, and topped with raw Brussels-sprout leaves that I’d marinated in lemon juice and olive oil.

Coloma's avatar

I just brought home spring rolls and am making rice and salad to go with. Yummy!

Coloma's avatar

Marinated salad with blush wine dressing grape tomatoes, cucumbers and avocado and a bowl of rice crackers and sliced pepper jack cheese.

Stinley's avatar

I made veggie soup last night and have some for lunch too.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

I had two bowls of homemade Banh Canh Gio Heo

Coloma's avatar

Tonight, sliced large avocado with Wasabi rice crackers. Yummmmy!

Coloma's avatar

Well..I guess you all have quit eating dinner lately. haha

I am having chicken salad on a bagel thin with fresh, raw, snap pea pods, olives and fresh orange segments from the orange tree here.

Stinley's avatar

Pancakes!!!!!!

Coloma's avatar

@Stinley Oh, with jam please!
I’m trying to drop a few pounds after the candy carnage of the holidays. Spring is just around the corner, i want my summer clothes to fit, I also want Pancakes! haha

Stinley's avatar

I had Nutella on one and lemon and sugar on the other. My daughters made them!

Coloma's avatar

@Stinley I read somewhere recently that Briton is using Birth Control laced Nutella on Grey Squirrels that are taking over the Red Squirrels. Is that true?

Stinley's avatar

@Coloma I don;t know. How would they stop the red squirrels from eating it too? And all the other birds and woodland creatures? Edit: the BBC says it so it must be true…

Coloma's avatar

@Stinley Yeah, I don’t know how they will manage things but I thought it was funny, Nutella birth control for squirrels. haha

Coloma's avatar

Tonight s takeout Kung Pao shrimp and veggies that I am putting over home made brown rice. :-)

JLeslie's avatar

I ate such a huge lunch that I think for dinner I’m going to have a small dessert. I guess I can count the lunch as dinner. Ropa vieja, rice, black beans, tostones, salad, and some chips and salsa. No wonder I’m stuffed.

If I’m good I’m going to have some clementines and call it a day. Another thought is some sweet cereal like Honey Smacks. If my husband wants to go out, I might get the free piece of cake I have a coupon for at a restaurant.

Coloma's avatar

@JLeslie Sounds delicious, I am trying to stay away from sweets lately, my biggest weakness. have some cake for me. haha

JLeslie's avatar

^^Yeah, I’m supposed to do better during Lent. Lol. I thought this is a good time to buckle down, even though it’s not my holiday.

Coloma's avatar

Last night I splurged after weeks of healthy eating and bought a takeout margarita pizza and had a couple shots of Bacardi Limon and 2 beers. Then, my delicious little pizza and a refreshing salad. I then slept for 11 hours and woke feeling grrreat! I needed to unwind, indulge.

Clearly it was the perfect combination of alcohol and food to induce a deep and restful nights sleep. haha

ragingloli's avatar

Lentil soup.

Stinley's avatar

Friends round and we are having pizza and drinkies

Coloma's avatar

@Stinley Yay…we must be telepathically sharing dinner cravings across the seas. lol

Stinley's avatar

@Coloma yay for pizza! I do have a slight headache this morning…

Coloma's avatar

@Stinley haha, that was me yesterday.

My ancient neighbor brought me a jello salad last night. Oh man, one of those weird 60’s concoctions, lime jello, cottage cheese, pineapple and chopped walnuts. I ate about 6 or 7 bites trying to decide if I liked it. I decided that the less I ate the more I liked it. Oh my, so now I have a giant bowl of funky jello salad in the fridge and have to calculate the appropriate time length before throwing out the rest and returning her bowl so so to appear to have enjoyed it over a few day period. I figure it will be safe to return the empty bowl around Tues. lol

Coloma's avatar

Not sure what’s on the menu tonight. Off to go shopping soon. I still have french bread and spinach dip from my little party night on Sat. with a friend, sooo, being a warm day here I might just grab some olives, apples, a little dry italian salami and have a snack plate later. I have some smoke gouda too, A picnic dinner plan.

Stinley's avatar

Chicken stir fry for me. Then I was at my girl guides scouts group and we decorated chocolate eggs. Nice!

BellaB's avatar

Pasta with some kind of sauce. Still deciding how simple I want this to be. Not in the mood for anything elaborate. Right now I’m leaning toward a bit of butter and a lot of salsa.

Coloma's avatar

@BellaB I like to just toss up some pasta with butter, parmesian cheese and a sprinkling of garlic and italian seasoning, simple and yummy.

JLeslie's avatar

For lunch (it was a late lunch that was the biggest meal today) I made my husband a really nice salad with champagne dressing and bacon pieces, and a twice baked potato with melted cheese on top. He loved it, which made me happy.

Stinley's avatar

Recipe for champagne dressing please!!

JLeslie's avatar

^^I buy it in a bottle. It’s the Girard’s brand. It’s usually merchandised on the top shelf, and the bottle is triangular.

There must be recipes out there? I don’t drink champagne, so if I made it from scratch I don’t know what I would do with the rest of the bottle, unless I had a party the same day I made the dressing.

Edit: come to think of it, it’s probably made with champagne vinegar??

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Something with Polish sausage…....that’s as far as I’ve thought about it.

Right now I’m having a toasted blueberry bagel with cream cheese. I wanted it to be a little sweet so I sprinkled confectioner sugar on it and, boy am I enjoying it!

Coloma's avatar

My friend and I are going to sushi for lunch here in a couple hours, so a big lunch of various yummy things will be my early “dinner.” Then just a snack plate later, fruit, cheese, crackers most likely.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Wedding kielbasa (double smoked), sauerkraut and potatoes.

BellaB's avatar

I’ve got a real craving for homemade hash browns, so tonight I’ll be dicing potatoes, slicing onions, getting herbs/spices ready. I’ll think of something healthyish to have with the hash browns.

JLeslie's avatar

Tonight penne alla vodka with mushrooms and peas. Sauce from a jar.

I was going to make the sauce, but I was in Fresh Market (I almost never shop there, maybe 4 times a year, even though it’s close to where I live, I didn’t know they had private label products) and they had their private label alla vodka sauce for a reasonless price, so I thought I’d give it a try.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

salad and ice cream…......truth

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Fried pork chops, green beans and mashed potatoes.

Coloma's avatar

Cole slaw and a few leftover steak cut french fries. Too tired to cook tonight.
I want to have @Tropical_Willie ‘s dinner and ice cream with @MollyMcGuire . haha

JLeslie's avatar

Update. The alla vodka sauce from fresh market was way too tomatoey. I added quite a bit of half and half and it was good. Probably, a little more vodka would have helped it along even better, but I was fine without it. My husband felt the dish needed to be topped with grated Parmesan.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

We made a burrito bar tonight for about 10 people. It was fun and delish.

BellaB's avatar

Steak fajitas. So good. I really could just eat spoons and spoons of salsa.

Coloma's avatar

Cajun sausage and veggies over pasta tonight. making dinner for friends. :-)

Stinley's avatar

Paella made outside on our paella burner. It is unseasonably warm for the time of year :-)

JLeslie's avatar

Pasta with meat sauce. Meatballs seem to be more popular, but mean sauce is better in my opinion.

Hot tea with cookies. Especially, almond or pecan cookies.

Actually, almond cakes and cookies. So delicious.

Dutchess_III's avatar

A few pieces of rotisserie breast meat chicken and a spoon full of mashed potatoes and gravy. Didn’t even finish up the little bit I had on my plate. I just don’t feel like eating. Ready to chill and watch 50 Minutes now, after this insanely stressful (and sometimes ridiculous) weekend.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

We had ham and cheese omelets tonight.

Stinley's avatar

@JLeslie I like the thought of mean sauce! We should come up with recipe for mean sauce. Do you mean a bolognaise type sauce made with ground beef? I like both but think I prefer meatballs. Meatballs cooked in the crock pot are amazing.

JLeslie's avatar

^^Meat sauce. Typo. I actually don’t like spicy Italian sauces very much, but you certainly can add some dried pepper flakes to your sauce. I do that for my husband. I put it in the sauce while it’s cooking, it’s better that way than just sprinkling it on top.

Coloma's avatar

^ A mean meat sauce. Sounds good to me. I like meat sauce better than meatballs too.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

We had pork chops, cheese grits, and brussels sprouts.

Coloma's avatar

I made bean tostadas last night with my marinated cucumber, tomato and olive salad. yummy.

Stinley's avatar

Crispy duck pancakes.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I ate virtually nothing on Tuesday and only a little more than that on Wednesday. Today I am HONGRY! I got a McD’s egg McMuffin and a hash brown….but couldn’t even eat half of either of them. Rick’s off to Sonic now, so I guess my dinner will be a Jr. Sonic cheeseburger. I’m ready! Hope I can eat it all!

ragingloli's avatar

@Dutchess_III
I never had a hedgehog before.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Nope. Couldn’t eat it all.

ragingloli's avatar

Must have been the needles.

BellaB's avatar

A hard-boiled egg with a lot of black pepper. Most of a feta croissant. 3 chicken wings with a very liberal lashing of Frank’s hot sauce. Some diced yellow pepper. Feeling the love of peppers.

Coloma's avatar

@Dutchess_III how can you not eat for an entire day and half or so?

I just had some yummy cheese ravioli with a nice little salad but I really want something sweet, no goodies in the house so I must survive my sugar craving. haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

When I was younger I could go a day and a half without eating for the hell of it. Can’t really do that any more. In this case I was really sick, have no idea why. Yesterday I was better but something told me not to eat anything heavy so I had some broccoli cheese soup and a salad.
Today I thought I was healed…but 20 minutes after I ate that burger the shit started all over again. Thinking of going to the ER, honestly.

BellaB's avatar

Broccoli cheese soup when you shouldn’t eat anything heavy? Broccoli cheese soup is about as stomach-unfriendly as it gets.

Have you worked with a dietician/nutritionist to help you with your meal-planning?

ragingloli's avatar

plus a horrid, fatty burger made from hedgehogs.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

^ lol hedgehog burgers.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@BellaB It’s not meat, which I would consider “heavy”. It’s a soup. I don’t need a nutritionist for meal plannings just because I got sick for a day! My weight is fine, BMI is perfect, and I know what is nutritious and what isn’t.

ragingloli's avatar

cheese is super heavy.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It sat well with me.

ragingloli's avatar

like a brick

Dutchess_III's avatar

It was the hamburger, not the cheese. I had a piece of cheese for breakfast. I was fine until I ate the hamburger. Let’s take this somewhere else, guys. I don’t want to derail this thread with people who don’t know me preaching their personal brand of bullshit at me.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Salad with ham and cheese and a flour tortilla . It was lovely.

Coloma's avatar

Bean burritos with cheese and all sorts of veggies. Mmmm good!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yesterday I had a ham, egg and cheese on a croissant roll, from Casey’s.

ragingloli's avatar

Schnitzel.

Coloma's avatar

^ Raging Schnitzel I presume? lol

Dutchess_III's avatar

Fish sandwich.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Steak and potato, with a large salad to start with.

Coloma's avatar

^ oooh, sounds good, having my leftover burrito fixin’s again.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@Coloma you could almost cut the steak (they only cook rib-eye) with your fork, the steakhouse will NOT tell anyone where they get their steaks from, all labels are missing from the Cryovaced packages.

All cut to order starting at an 8 ounce. They have sold 20 ounce steaks, but we always have a large doggy bag to go home.

Coloma's avatar

@Tropical_Willie Just stop it would ya? lol

Tropical_Willie's avatar

burritos are good, probably have one for breakfast.

Stinley's avatar

We went out to our local pub for dinner. My sister got me a voucher for it so it was a lovely treat. I had sea bass and finished everyone else’s puddings.

Coloma's avatar

Today is going to be warm and I am super busy so tonight will just be a tuna salad sandwich, strawberries and might have to have a few chips too, salt & vinegar. :-) Whipping up the tuna salad before I leave this morning.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I just remembered…I had a dream about buying tuna fish last night….???

Coloma's avatar

Dinner tonight, fresh apricots, PB and Celery sticks and then….Oreo cheesecake!
I think it’s a good balance don’t you agree? LOL

ragingloli's avatar

A plate of fresh Gagh, with a side of heart of Targ.

Coloma's avatar

^ Don’t forget the marinated baby toes. lol

ragingloli's avatar

and a barrel of blood wine.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Dang! Here this is.

Today will be a bean and cheese burrito I picked up from Taco Tico in another town yesterday. Gonna put more cheese in it and smother it in cheese! Can’t wait!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

I’ll be alone tonight so I planned on having a big chicken breast cooked with French Dressing along with cheese garlic grits. Well I woke early and had grits this morning so I’ll just have the chicken tonight with something green. Chicky’s in the baby crock pot.

Coloma's avatar

I just got in from one of my gigs and grabbed a bean and veggie burrito at my local taco place. Making a salad now. I also picked up…drum roll some Ben &Jerrys “Pistachio Pistachio” ice cream. Oh my..that will be much later tonight. :-D

Dutchess_III's avatar

FREAKING TBONE!! No. Wait. Can’t afford that. Maybe another burrito.

Coloma's avatar

^LOL…a T-Bone teaser ey?

I am going out now for something to go with salad tonight, no idea what yet, I have zero cravings for anything. Maybe just a tuna sandwich, I’m lazy today. haha

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Chopped eastern North Carolina BBQ (whole hog), clawslaw and Brunswick Stew.

Coloma's avatar

@Tropical_Willie What is clawslaw?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

It should read coleslaw @Coloma

Coloma's avatar

@Tropical_Willie Haha..I figured but then I thought that maybe it was like crab claw slaw or something unusual. haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

A bit of cheddar broccoli soup.

Coloma's avatar

Chicken, snap pea pods and roasted bay Yukon taters’, mmm good!

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’m going to quit eating forever. It’s too much of a hassle.

Coloma's avatar

@Dutchess_III haha, that’s sad, from she who is making Lobster raviole tonight. LOL

MollyMcGuire's avatar

I had a ham sandwich around four this afternoon and just had popcorn tonight. Tomorrow is my birthday so I’m expecting someone to either take me out or cook for me. Hopefully cook.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Today’s meal, at about 2:00, was a piece of pizza my husband’s daughter and her kids left in the fridge after visiting last night. It was Supreme, but I turned my piece into veggie lovers by donating all the calories (meat) to my husband’s pizza.
Then I warmed up a left over, home-made clover leaf roll from yesterday.
Then I ate one of the two left over deviled eggs.
Then a few chocolate chips.
I think I’m done for the day.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

I just made some eggs and grits for dinner. I don’t feel great and am going to bed soon. (Monday 8:10 pm)

I wish our answers were time stamped. That little red mark which, when hovered, says how long ago you answered just doesn’t get it done)

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

What are grits? I’ve heard Americans talk about ‘grits’, but I’m not actually sure what the heck they are.

Breakfast time here. I had toast and marmalade and tea. Because I’m very British!

Stinley's avatar

^me too! No idea what grits are either.

I has toast and hummus last night. Today I had Icelandic skyr yoghurt. It was delicious. Has anyone else tried it?

ragingloli's avatar

Was that not the shredded stomach thing?

JLeslie's avatar

Grits are a Southern American food. You rarely find them offered in restaurants in other parts of the country, except for chain restaurants that originated in the South. They are a hot, what I would call, cereal, made from corn, but I’m from the north, so I’m not sure a southerner would consider it a cereal. Grits are served as a side dish usually. Sometimes they are a main dish doctored up with sausage and cheese.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

They sound a bit gross! @JLeslie. Thank you for educating us though.

@Stinley, I haven’t had that yoghurt.

I had steak, baked potato, saur kraut and mushies for dinner.

JLeslie's avatar

Kind of similar to polenta.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

I’m sending you that face that says ‘ewwww’. Sorry. Thanks for trying to give us a sense of what it is @JLeslie.

JLeslie's avatar

I wouldn’t call them gross, but I’m not very fond of grits. Especially, since I think if you order them out they are full of butter. its kind of a cross between couscous, cream of wheat, oatmeal, it’s just another grain. Up North more often you see hashbrowns as a side for breakfast, or for a more healthy choice sliced tomato.

I do like polenta, but I make it firm and cooked (I guess fried) in a little oil so it browns a little.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Aren’t grits what Malt O Meal is? I think grits are really good. It’s just corn.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

MOM Malt O Meal is wheat crushed and milled.

Grits is corn, either white or yellow. Cooked with water/milk. Southern US recipes include adding any of the following: butter, cheese, black pepper, paprika, cayenne and bacon grease. NEVER with brown sugar, maple syrup or anything sweet.

Stinley's avatar

Doesn’t sound too appetising but I’d give it a try if I visited!

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Some places serve grits with cooked Andouille sausage or garlic cooked shrimp on top.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I eat them like oatmeal. Real butter and half and half. Yummy!

Tonight I’m frying up the last of the breaded shrimp. I think there are 6 of them.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

This afternoon around three I got hungry and nothing sounded good except succotash. I prepared and let it simmer about an hour and made corn bread. A friend showed up right before I ate so he joined me. He thought it a bit strange for an early dinner but seemed to be very full. He ate more than I’ve ever seen him eat. :) I think the ice cream put him over the top; it did me.

Coloma's avatar

I make a mean Andouille dish!

Celebrating my return from the hole here with a couple crisp Pineapple hard ciders and then a delicious apple, walnut salad with cheese and french bread.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Left over chicken/potato soup. It was good, very good.

Coloma's avatar

@MollyMcGuire Share the recipe if you made it yourself.

Pretty warm here, around 90 so eating light. Dinner was a quickie grilled quesadilla and a bountiful salad with balsamic dressing.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

@Coloma I had three large potatoes that needed to be used so I took one large boneless chicken breast out of the freezer and cut into a few pieces and covered and boiled on low heat for about 30 minutes. Then I took the chicken out and shredded it and returned to the stock. I added a can of diced tomatoes, the cubed potatoes, a large onion, a bag of frozen green beans, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, a clove of garlic, a palm-full of lentils and a palm-full of barley. I think that’s all. I ended up adding a little more water too because I actually like the liquid a lot. It lasted a few days. I made corn bread to go with it. This is how I like to eat. No processed stuff. The canned tomatoes I do love to use for the convenience. They may have sodium but I’m supposed to eat more salt.

Tonight I had sliced onions sauteed in butter and when they were just losing the crunch I beat two eggs and poured over the onions. I just let it cook a few minutes then flipped the whole thing. I had a piece of French bread with it and it was lovely.

We eat a lot of andouille too (I noticed you mentioned it) ; I like to make gumbo as well as
jambalaya.

Coloma's avatar

@MollyMcGuire Sounds delish! I love making soups.
The Andouille dish I make is to dice up the sausage in the crockpot with red and orange bell pepper slices, and chunky sliced yellow crookneck squash and zucchini, Add a dash of garlic and Italian seasonings and let cook for about 2 hours on medium/high until the peppers and squash are tender. Serve over pasta of your choice using the broth to toss the pasta with. It is sooo good!

Tongiht is takeout bean burrito from my local, really good mexican place with a butter lettuce salad , veggies and Balsamic dressing. 92 degrees, too hot to cook anything. Oh, and watermelon!

Coloma's avatar

What I really want is a great cream of celery soup recipe. I have had marginal luck on my own.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

It’s been a long time since I made cream of celery soup because I’m the only celery-lover in the house. First wash the stalks very well then BE SURE to destring it by grabbing strings at one end and slowly pulling them away from the stalk. Then cut it up in pieces bigger than you want to actually have in the soup. Cover with water plus one or two inches. Grate an onion and add. Add parsley and thyme as well as salt and black pepper and maybe a few dried chile pepper flakes. Cook until the celery is very tender, then thicken by mixing milk and cornstarch and slowly adding it to the soup, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil to be sure it’s the thickness you want. Now, using an old fashioned potato masher (The kind that has the chrome piece going back and forth rather than the newer ones that just have little holes in the bottom) mash the soup until the celery pieces are the size you want. I like mine completely mashed up so it is a smooth soup. Now I’m in the mood for some with some kind of bread.

@Coloma

Coloma's avatar

@MollyMcGuire I will try that, thank you! I love Cream of celery soup. Hotter than hades here today, having a couple left over egg rolls and a salad later, too hot to cook anything. Ug!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

You’re welcome, @Coloma I’m having a ham sandwich in a little while. I don’t feel like making dinner either. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Bread and chicken gravy. Yum. Reminds me of my childhood.

Coloma's avatar

I had a big lunch so “dinner” will be watermelon and maybe a few cheese and crackers. Neighbor brought me some delicious pork tenderloin last night and I made a rice bowl with it for lunch with sauteed yellow crookneck squash and cole slaw. That was at 1 o’ clock and it is now 4:30 and I am still full.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Bratwurst (on the grill), shredded pickle beets, sauerkraut and half sour pickles. Maybe a cold beer to wash it down.

Coloma's avatar

@Tropical_Willie Sounds yummy, I love sauerkraut.

Tonight will be a tuna sandwich, sun chips, olives, a big garden salad and watermelon. I have been craving my home made spaghetti sauce or lasagne but looks like that will be in, oh, October. Too hot to cook anything.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Spanish omelette and roasted potatoes…...and later a bowl of cherries.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yesterday was Chinese buffet. I didn’t eat much. For some reason I’m suddenly having a hard time with seafood, which is my go to at Chinese.
I did eat an entire slice of Texas garlic toast though.

Tonight will be a slice of pound cake with strawberry juice. Rick bought the shit two days ago. I’ve been ignoring it so today I figured I’d just make it my dinner for the evening.

Coloma's avatar

^ Let her eat cake!

Pushing 100 again today, the infernal inferno. Having a cold, smoked turkey breast sandwich for dinner with a bit of leftover potato salad, pickles, olives and more watermelon. I can’t wait for October when I can cook again. haha

MollyMcGuire's avatar

My friend is bringing naked wings from Publix…I love them. I made a salad to go with. I’m waiting on him to get back now.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I made another batch of stir fried chicken rice today. Not sure what I did but it is sooooooo good this time.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

baked potato with sour cream
fresh green beans

Coloma's avatar

Leftover spaghetti, I finally made a batch of sauce as it was “cool” at only 88 degrees the other day. haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

A piece of toast with butter and Apple butter. Yummm!

Coloma's avatar

Panda express honey walnut shrimp and chow mien. :-)

Dutchess_III's avatar

A filet of fish from McD’s.

I think tonight we’re going to take my son and his family to a new restaurant in town. I think I’ll try the lasagna. WITH EXTRA CHEESE PLEASE!!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

We went to the fish house tonight and I had fried shrimp. Excellent as always!! And, like always, I took a Tagamet when I got home. This is the only time I have fried anything other than okra at Cracker Barrel once every blue moon.

Coloma's avatar

Had a turkey hot dog here with baked beans and salad. Good, haven’t had a hot doggie in forever. :-)

ragingloli's avatar

Some poor sod’s soul.

Stinley's avatar

Chicken in white wine sauce with rice. Niiiice dinner

Dutchess_III's avatar

I really, really wanted a pasta salad from this cafe that’s near the college, but they aren’t serving it today. So, I ordered a cheese and spinach quiche. I was hoping for a lot of cheese and a little spinach, but it was the other way around. Although I’m hungry, I’m not going to eat it.
I’ll eat in the morning, anyway.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Spaghetti and there’s plenty for tomorrow. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

So, this morning I went to a convenience store for a coke. And damn. Our local Daylight Doughnut had a display set up in there.
I walked past it to get my coke, keeping my eyes averted.
Walked past it again, keeping my eyes semi-averted.
Made it all the way to the check out counter, put my coke down and went back and got a cinnamon roll. OMG, they make good cinnamon rolls!
So, that will be my dinner tonight. Warmed up with real butter melting on it and a glass of ice cold milk.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Ham and lettuce on sourdough and sliced beets on the side. Didn’t want spaghetti again..

Coloma's avatar

Cheese quesadilla and salad and fresh cherries. Still hot, will it never end? haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

Damn! I forgot about my cinnamon roll! It’s in the freezer
Remind me tomorrow.
Tonight was some tato chips.

I am grazing, have had salami, french bread with spinach dip and watermelon. Probably just snack more later, still mofo hot. Might whip up a packaged asian salad mix, dunno…my brain is addled in ths heat wave, haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

Man. It got all the way up to 78 today. Crazy weather.

Coloma's avatar

Up yours Dutchie. LOL
78 is the low at night here right now.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I know. Hey usually 100+ this time of year!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

We had rib eyes tonight….great dinner. We had steamed spinach and sauteed onions with them. Delish.

Coloma's avatar

Still dying in the heat wave over here. Had tuna salad scooped onto a few tortilla chips and a cucumber and tomato salad and strawberries. My friend is making goat cheese pizza today so will probably have a slice of that tonight with salad. I can’t wait for winter, living on cold sandwiches for 2 months is getting old. haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

Half a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and left over baked beans from camping. 3 hours apart, tho.

JLeslie's avatar

Raisin Bran cereal.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Are you sure it was raisens and not shriveled cockroaches????

Coloma's avatar

I love Rasin Bran. “Dinner” here, V-8 Juice, a peach, cashews and salt water taffy. haha

Went to a new Chinese food place in town. It didn’t have a buffet. Rick ordered Sesame chicken. I ordered shrimp in lobster sauce.
Well, mine was…insipid. When I hear the word “sauce” I think of a sauce, like a thin gravy. This was just egg drop soup with shredded, (probably fake,) lobster bits and shrimp in it. It came with a bowl of plain white rice. All of it was too bland.
I’d had an egg roll appitizer, though, and so I wasn’t AS hungry when the food came.
The portions we each got were HUGE, so I just ended up picking on Ricks chicken. It was quite good, and so was his brown rice.
He still couldn’t eat all his.
Dogs were quite cheerful when we got home.

Had a wine fest with a friend last night that stayed over. Had leftover rotisserie chicken, half a baked potato and salad for lunch. ‘Dinner” is going to be a gargantuan cinnamon roll. Hangover food day. haha

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Spare ribs and smoked turkey breast with coleslaw! Yummy ! ! !

Ate in Germany at EPCOT in Disney World. It was great. I had mixed greens, red cabbage, salmon with a mustard dill sauce, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, potato dumpling, spaetzle, pot roast.

It was a buffet. Just little bits of everything, ⅓ of my plate was the mixed greens, no dressing, so I guess that wasn’t too terrible.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I always eat my corn and potatoes and other, less fattening stuff first, so that when it comes time to eat the meats I don’t just pig out.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

I had 1.5 tomato sandwiches…tomato, lettuce, mayo on toasted thinly sliced whole wheat. I also had some beets with. Nice and cool.

Coloma's avatar

@MollyMcGuire Oooh..I have been making tomato sandwiches a lot too with out bountiful and delicious tomatoes from the garden. Yep, lightly toasted bread a little mayo, a sprinkle of S&P…to die for.

Tonight was a big garden salad with our homegrown tomatoes & lemon cucumbers and a bowl of brown rice with a diced, sauteed yellow crookneck fresh off the vine today.

Dutchess_III's avatar

A bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Damn it Rick! Why you bring this shit home!!???
tell em @Coloma!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

I made a meatloaf yesterday and tonight I had some of that and a baked potato along with a spinach salad.

Coloma's avatar

^Oooh meatloaf!

I had a @Dutchess_III “dinner” last night. Vanilla yogurt and ginger snaps. haha

Stinley's avatar

I had crisps

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Tonight I had eggs and grits. I waited until late to eat and it hit the spot and was easy and fast to prepare.

Coloma's avatar

I had a baked potato with green goddess dressing and a salad. So good, so fattening. haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

Grilled cheese sandwich. For breakfast and dinner. I didn’t get up till 3. I think maybe I’m sick or something.

Coloma's avatar

3? You must be sick, or were in a partial coma. LOL feel better soon!

Dutchess_III's avatar

I think I’m ok now.

No idea what’s for dinner at this point! I’m so sick of eating. :/

Coloma's avatar

^ I am STARVING right now, almost noon and haven’t eaten yet. Gotta make me some lunch now! Dinner…garden produce salad and maybe rice with squash. Not sure yet.

JLeslie's avatar

Breaded fish sticks, pasta shells with Tostitos salsa con queso mixed in, and canned no salt string beans with salt sprinkled on it.

My lunch was much healthier. Lol.

Dutchess_III's avatar

A bowl of Wheat Chex. Haven’t had Wheat Chex in a long time.

JLeslie's avatar

I love Wheat Chex.

Coloma's avatar

Oooh me too and it’s been forever. I must get a box of Wheat Chex this week now. :-D

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh man. Went to a new all you can eat steak place. You name it, I had a few bites of it. AND a brownie for dessert.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

I ate a complete porterhouse beef steak, plainly salted, peppered with cracked black peppercorns, charred on the outside and rare on the inside with no sauce—just that big, beautiful, Nebraska grain-fed, one-inch-thick combination NY strip and filet mignon still on the bone. With it I had a big Idaho baked potato, filled with butter, creme fraiche, strips of crispy bacon crumbled into it in lieu of salt, a load of chives and more black pepper on top. On the side, I had some big, beautiful, thickly sliced, portobello mushrooms sauteed in red wine. To compliment every bite of the steak, I took a sip of Italian Sangiovese table wine. Mmmmm. Heaven.

It took the whole bottle and a couple of hours to eat that meal and for dessert, I had one of the most interesting conversations I’ve ever had with my table mate. I slept like a baby last night and I feel great today, like superman. It’s been since last November since I’ve had anything but chicken, lamb, pork and goat. And at least a year before that. I have been dreaming about steaks for the past couple of months. And last night, my dream came true.

Coloma's avatar

^ Sounds divine, I wish I had some sauteed Portabellos with my T-Bone last night but the squash was delicious sauteed in the marinade I made.

We had an impromptu barbecue for my son his wife and their 4 kids, and his daughter and her two kids. He called them all at noon to invite them over. They accepted. Even though I really didn’t feel up to it I boiled up a dozen eggs and deviled some eggs and Rick spent more money than he should have on hamburger and brats and a boat load of different kinds of chips.
I didn’t eat all day so I was ready! My son and his kids were hungry too. However his daughter and kids ate just before they came over. Man, I hate that. They do that every time, then no one is hungry for what we fix.
Anyway, I had a few bites of hamburger, 3 deviled eggs and some chips and dip. His daughter brought over a bag of mixed chocolate candy bars, the little ones. I ate 3 Snickers bars.
I’m tired, ready for SNL and rum.
