When does "really late" become "really early?"?

Asked by MrGrimm888 (18986points) February 26th, 2017

It’s 4AM right now, where I am. A friend is coming over for a couple drinks.

Are we drinking “really late,” or “really early? ”

That should be early I guess..

An hour earlier would have been really late. An hour later would be really early.

Are you waking up to drink, or drinking then going to bed?

It does not matter.
It is a disgrace either way.

I don’t think it matters. Drink now. Drink proud.

To me, 2 would be late. 3 would be late. 4 is early.

@ZEPHYRA: In honor of that song, I’m making some Irish Soda Bread. :)

When I was 17 4am was really late. Now, it’s right on the border. It’s the end of the “middle of the night.”

4 a.m. is around the time that people I know get up to prepare for their work/family activities so I’d call it early. Not really early. Just early. Quite a few young parents I know get up at 4 a.m. to exercise/prep for the day before getting their kids up at 6 a.m.

If I had not yet gone to bed, it might change my feeling on whether it was late or early.

5am or when the sun rises.

I used to work graveyard. We worked 10pm to 8am. Sure as fuck we got drunk after work since everything about that job was miserable. A woman that worked with me in the digital booth lived 5 blocks away. So at 2am we would take our lunch break and go to 7/11 and grab a bunch of beer and then drop it off at her apartment.

The thing is that where we worked we couldn’t afford to live. (she was a manager and could afford to live close to work) I had to spend 3 hours on the bus to get to work and back home. And it was the same for everyone else that didn’t drive.

So it slowly turned into about 6 of us just living at her apartment during the work week and morning drinking and bitching out our bosses.

It was one of the best times of my life.. But for the wrong reasons.

^Yeah. When I posted this q, I had only been off work since about 3AM. My other buddy works food and bev,so he had just got off too.

Many nights ,my crowd drinks until the Sun comes up. Usually getting that “one last beer” as others are going to work.

I guess that would depend on whether you’re just starting or ending. I’d say 3 a.m. is close.
