What kind of tv was in The Love Car Displacement of The Big Bang Theory?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) February 27th, 2017

Sheldon was using some kind of monitor to illustrate his points for the trip. He was moving icons around with his finger and drawing on it with marker. Anyone know what kind of tv or monitor was used in this scene? It was The Love Car Displacement episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Here’s an image of the monitor.

I zoomed in to 300% and I didn’t see any labels or tags on the chassis.

There’s a massive device attached to the back and an exotic-looking keyboard extending from the bottom. The black-in-back could be a processor/controller that gives the monitor its capabilities.

My guess is that it was made by the studio/production techs and is not available to the general public.

I’m fairly sure that it’s commensurate with the technology that’s used in tv and movie production and is way beyond our needs or means. I’d estimate that the cost would run at least $100K.

I’d say it ultimately could be a user-programmable animation processor.

@RocketGuy

That looks like it could be a potential source of info.

I tried to use their price-request form to ask if they recognized the monitor, but the form has been disabled.
