The second sentence states, Your belief-system will determine whether you’re depressed, happy, sad, excited, or bored. That’s not true. I am living example of a person with mental illness who’s beliefs had no effect on my mood.

Our programming, beliefs and how we think do impact our mental and emotional lives but mostly this is just more new agey bullshit that attempts to convince everyone that their fate in life, their health, their financial circumstances are all based on their thoughts and beliefs like the book “The Secret.”
I say bullshit. Personality type has much more to do with peoples habits and lifestyles and coping mechanisms unless you do suffer from a certified mental health condition which, obviously, can effect all temperaments. Every personality type will be motivated in different ways by different things and while our thoughts do create our feelings to a large degree the fact is, shit happens, for better or for worse in life that has nothing to do with our beliefs.

Whats insulting about this new agey crap is that it presumes everyone experiencing something negative has brought it on themselves which is simply not true and loaded with gulit tripping shit. Thoughts effect our moods but beliefs have little to do with anything.
Yep, because of my thoughts and beliefs I created the recession that financially devastated me and had I only believed I could remain financially stable and comfortable the interest rates never would have tanked, I wouldn’t have lost my work and been forced to live off my savings until it was depleted and lose everything. Uh huh…my beliefs created that scenario.

Bite me bullshit new agey lunatics! lol

I think our belief system does impact how we look at life, how we frame things, and how we deal with situations.

I think it can be completely separate from religion. Religion can give you, or suggest to you, a belief system, but even without religion I think people have a belief system for dealing with life good and bad.

@imrainmaker haha..not at all. Good question but from someone who did the new agey bullshit for awhile once uon a time I can say I feel it is mostly crap philosophy. haha

I tend to agree. How you feel determines what you believe, which, in turn, does influence how you feel. If you are one of those with a more positive outlook then that outlook will influence your view toward a more pleasant and positive outlook toward yourself and your interaction with the world. A negative one will do the opposite.

Having a positive attitude is important in life whatever your circumstances but circumstances vary greatly between individuals, or even in the course of a single life, and it is stupid to try to deny it.
