Is Trump getting more warmongering, as time passes? (Details )

Asked by MrGrimm888 (19001points) April 13th, 2017

Obviously, he just bombed Syria. He’s moved one of our carrier groups toward North Korea, in a threatening gesture. Today, Afghanistan witnessed the first use of MOAB.

Is this a pattern of using more, and more firepower?

Well isn’t the US the worlds hall monitor?
And King Trump is just playing his part(and should say loving every minute of it).

I’m guessing that all of those people who couldn’t bear to vote for “Clinton the warmonger” must be so relieved.~

I think your own post answers your question. So disturbing.

Now you noticed?

Obviously he has no clue how to rule a country. He works like this: “Ok, this country is messing up with America? LET’S BOMB IT TO DEATH! Oh, I just bombed it and now people are angry? Let’s go to a conference and try to convince people that it was the right thing to do. What? My bombing also created tensions between other countries? Screw it, let’s tell my secretary to print a speech talking about unity and shit. Who cares what will happen next? I’ll just deal with whatever I see first.”

Everything is done out of spontaneity. He doesn’t think of the consequences of his decision at all. The reason why the world is so shocked and appalled by whatever he does is that they have never seen any leader with that kind of spontaneity at all.

Going to war (a) boosts the economy, (b) gets rid of a lot of unemployed young people and adds jobs for the rest, (c) provides a pretext for lots of special governmental powers and restrictions, and (d) forces people to unite behind the nation’s top leaders whether they feel like it or not.

And if your instincts are to bully and subdue, and you’re clueless about diplomacy and don’t see any point in making peace gestures, and you’re used to pushing people around and ruling by your gut and your temper, which way are you going to feel more comfortable—trying to master the complexities of international politics and talk to people who are twice as smart as you are, or playing at first-person shooter with real weapons and scaring the crap out of everybody you don’t actually kill?

I don’t think Trump is doing anything. He’s letting other people make the decisions—and he can enjoy playing golf and pretend everything is going great.

This is what happens when we ignore the fact that our past president has bombed several different countries tens of thousands of times.
We now believe we have a warmongering president, but is that only because he media is actually reporting on what he is doing, while most of what happened under Obamas watch slid under the radar?

The US is and has been a warmongering country. For control, for economic gain, and maybe even for population control. As General Smedley Butler wrote, “War is a Racket.”

“Government is the Entertainment division of the military-industrial complex.”

I seriously think that Trump does not believe in anything. He ran a campaign on anti-globalization, saying that NATO is outdated. Now he just changed his mind. He also campaigned on trying to negotiate with Russia regarding common interest in fighting ISIS, while Russia ran the DNC hack to bolster his campaign. Now he is saying that Russia presents a problem. Steve Bannon, who was vocal about anti-globalization, has apparently been thrown under the bus. What Trump is most interested in is being rich and powerful. He has the depth of an oil slick. For the reasons given by @Jeruba , war would do well to increase his power.

@ragingloli, so it seems. (Er will. Not I. Not we.) He’s probably already got a gilded bunker ready. And recorded a decade’s worth of cable TV for repeat viewing. No library necessary.

News flash, that MOAB bomb drop had been in the plans already, before the election.
Obama began it, but they jad to secretly evacuate citizens from the area first, so all that was leftfor Trump to do was sign off in agreement.
BOOM! mic drop

A lot of contingency plans are and should be made that no one expects to implement. When people buy a fire extinguisher, it isn’t because they’re planning on setting the house on fire.

Patty_Melt's avatar

It wasn’t just an idea, it was a plan. It WAS being moved on. Getting the civilians away had to be done carefully, and took time.
Do none of you know any military persons at all?

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

Of course! It’s Obama’s fault!

Patty_Melt's avatar

Who said fault? Not me. I think it was a good move. I am non partisan. I voted for President Obama.
I support President Trump, and I believe he has and will do much better than most of Fluther believes.
Civilians were removed from the area. The only ones to perish were ISIS fighters. A huge piece of their storage and hideout were demolished. It was a big move done well.
I place no blame. I support the move all the way.

Lighten up. So far he hasn’t done anything approaching Iraq (which Clinton voted for) or the drone strikes in Pakistan (which Clinton helped with.) Yes, we need to keep an eye on him, as we do with all presidents, but so far not too bad.

kritiper's avatar

(Supposed) absolute power corrupts absolutely. Heck, he’s even raising money for his re-election campaign already! Geesh!
