Which mythological character was cursed with the ability to see the future but not able to do anything about it?

Asked by LuckyGuy (43689points) April 26th, 2017

I can’t find it. I don’t know if it was a Greek or Roman god or a character.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Are you so sure she was a myth?

@Hawaii_Jake Oh the situation is definitely real. I know someone who absolutely knows something bad is going to happen but nobody is listening.

Myths can be myths without not having historical basis in fact. Many myths do. Also, most religions and myths are full of metaphors and archetypes, rather than direct literal material assertions, anyway.

@Zaku When I mentioned “the situation is definitely real” I was not actually referring to Cassandra. I was referring to a situation in the real world where someone can see how it is going to work out but are powerless to fix it.
“She is going to marry the bum – who will leave her when she has a child.”
“They are going to buy that boat – which will bankrupt them.”
“He is just going to try cocaine once – which will escalate and bankrupt him.”

@LuckyGuy I should’ve tagged my comment as responding to @Hawaii_Jake .
