Why is Netflix still down?

Since yesterday afternoon, Netflix has been down, continually stating that they will be up at (this time) and when "this time" rolls around, it continues to be pushed back. Anyone know what the deal is, I want to update my queue with todays new releases?

Don't know, but I'm sure they're more concerned than you are. :-). Outages at big sites seem more rare these days, I'd guess they'll be up by tonight.

Wow, they've been down for awhile. Looks like they're aiming to come back at 4pm Pacific today, unless they push it back again. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2007/07/24/netflix-is-out-in-more-ways-than-one.aspx

Shouldn't they have a backup system that can take over if something fubars the servers / databases? Is that standard practice or just impractical for big, complicated sites?
