How can I transfer music files from a PC to an iPhone?

Tech Question (and yes, I’ve Googled): How do I transfer music files from a PC to an iPhone? Is there a way to do it without downloading iTunes to the computer? Thanks!

CopyTrans is an option. I’m not sure if there’s still a free version or not. I’ve used the paid version for years to manage my iPod.

I asked this question at an Apple store (“Genius Bar”), and they said that iTunes on the computer is required for this.

It works fine, but if someone knows of another way, I would like to know. I find iTunes on the PC is not so user-friendly. It has many quirks that you need to get used to, and it is not intuitive (at least not for me).
