How can I know when I'm most fertile??

Asked by AloraCrimson (503points) July 6th, 2017

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is having a nice Thursday.

I just want to know how do you track when you’re most fertile?

I got my period yesterday on July 5th

My period is normal and usually lasts 5 days.

I get it every month but I’ve never tracked my fertility and want to know the optimum days when I can get pregnant. How do you do this?

I downloaded a bunch of fertility tracking apps, but some of them say different days…

If I got my period on July 5th, when would I be most fertile?

Is it really 10 days afterwards? 2 of the apps are saying I’ll be most fertile on July 16th…........

Anyway this is the first time I’m trying to see my fertile window so any tips help! Thank you!

To be precise, you should probably use a kit that tracks ovulation (available Over The Counter at most drugstores). Pee on the stick, get the result. Give it a try. Good luck!

Yes, get a kit, and good luck! :)

Just FYI, First Response and Clearblue are both good, industry standards.

If you want to put in the time and effort, the Creighton Model is excellent. I have a friend who was a practitioner and helped many couples. This is family planning information from New Zealand family planning.

There’s more to it than counting days. I hope that this works out for you in whichever way you want. (Pregnant or not.)

I don’t think you need anything pricey or high-tech, just a standard thermometer.

Take your basal body temperature (BBT) every morning, as soon as you wake up. Don’t eat, drink, get out of bed, or even sit up in bed. Record each day’s BBT: https://assets.babycenter.com/ims/2010/08aug/basal_body_temp_chart_410x317.jpg?width=435 and then connect the dots.

Because you have a regular menstrual cycle, your temperature should spike on the day after you’ve ovulated. Your BBT will remain higher until your next period; if you conceive, it’ll stay elevated.
