How could I got about learning to build an iphone app?

My OS won’t be upgraded to Leopard for about a week so i can’t dl the SDK. The lit on the apple site doesn’t seem to be intended for beginners.

I studied java for two years – four years ago. I understand the concept of object oriented programming… and that’s about it.

Do you have any suggestions/websites/books for how i could ease in to writing code? Something with less jargon and more code examples, preferably.
