Have any gentlemen on here resisted the black beard fad ?

Asked by Aster (20023points) August 8th, 2017

It seems like most men are now wearing black beards so it must be tempting for them to grow one. Have you resisted the new look and why?

My formerly black beard turned grey years ago….

My boyfriend has actually grown a well-cropped salt and pepper beard in the past couple of weeks per my humble request. I love it! But it does scratch a little…

My wife hates guys with beards so no hipster beard for me. I do rock salt and pepper stubble frequently though.

The hipster beard trend hit San Francisco five years ago, and started to wane last year in favor of neatly trimmed facial hair accompanied by a man-bun.

I tried growing a beard, and it came in satisfactorily thick, but so grey it added ten years to my looks.

My once red beard is over 30 years old in its present incarnation and decidedly grey so no fadding for me.

Every once in a while I threaten to cut it off just for giggles but my wife refuses to allow me to and threatens to cut me off until it grows back if I go ahead and do so.

Rick has a beard, but it’s not black.

My son grows a Grizzly Adams beard every winter, and lets his hair get shaggy, then cuts it all off every spring.

My hair was a beautiful dark brown, when most of it had color.

No beard for me, just a mustache, which my wife refuses to let me shave off. One of the first goofy lines I tried when we first met, was- let’s dance, girl. I grew this mustache just for you! A line that has plagued me fro the rest of my days, she will not forget that damn stupid line, I didn’t even think it would work. Otherwise, I prefer to be clean shaven, stubble on my face makes me feel like a bum. Look sharp, feel sharp, be sharp. Mister, how are you fixed for blades?

What’s a black beard?
Black haired beard?
I have a beard.
If I recall correctly, since being a toddler.
Not a gentleman though.

I grew a beard about 30 years ago for a couple of months. It grew in very nicely but I looked like a terrorist. (And it felt dirty to me.)
I’ve been clean shaven ever since – except for an occasional trip when I go for a few days without the comforts of home.

I’ve grown a beard a few times in my life and decided, “Nope, does not look good” and shaved it off.

At about age 45 it came in all gray and it escalated to, “Oh hell no, I look like Papa Smurf!”

I’m more of a Yellowbeard type.

I also “tried out” the beard thing one year, didn’t like it, and have never tried it since then.

I barely shave and the most I ever get is an underachieving Orlando Bloom.

I’m blond. I don’t think my beard is going to be black even if I let my facial hair grow more (which I don’t, because I don’t like the look).
