Do you eat at a certain time or do you eat when hungry?

I feel like this has been asked before but here it is again. I usually just eat when hungry.

A little of both. I typically eat when I’m hungry, but then we have dinner when I get home from work, so that is sort of at a certain time. But on weekends, I most certainly don’t have eating schedules.

I have learned to only eat when hungry. The ritual of eating at certain times, for me at least, led to eating more.

I eat breakfast before work every morning whether I want to or not. And I take my lunch break at approximately noon whether I’m hungry or not.

It’s outside of work that my schedule goes to shit. Matt and I often won’t make dinner till 8 or 9 at night. And on weekends or when I work at home I struggle to get three meals in. It’s some combination of lack of hunger and laziness.

My natural inclination has always been to eat when I’m hungry as opposed to adhering to fixed times for scheduled meals. The wife on the other hand is much more attuned to regular mealtimes, as we all are when we slave to the dictates of a “square” 8 hour job. So our mealtimes together were driven pretty much by her schedule. Now that she is more or less retired, we are drifting considerably from fixed times for dining, principally due to the fact that she is involved in so many projects and activities that both of us now find ourselves eating “out” a lot.

Like @Mariah, because of work I essentially have to eat at certain times whether I’m hungry or not. The fact is that I rarely have any appetite in the morning and I’ve always had to force myself to eat then. It’s not fun, but that seems to just be the way it is. When I’m not on a work schedule, I eat when hungry and that can be at various times, though it’s usually twice a day.

I am not a breakfast person. I drink coffee for the 1st couple hours after I wake up, then drink water and have a brunch type meal around 11:30-noon or so. Maybe something like fruit, cheese, yogurt, toast, sometimes oatmeal. I then have “lunch” around 2–3 and dinner around 7–8 in the summer now.

Last night I had a few beers and then made dinner around 8:30. Rotisserie chicken and salad. It has been extremely hot this summer in my part of CA. and I have pretty much been living on various sandwiches, salad, fruit and snacks.
I’m all over the map, don’t have a strict meal schedule.

Of course I am single these days after being married and raising a daughter and I sometimes think ” WTH did I make for dinner every night for 20+ years?” I honestly hardly remember. LOL

I eat when I’m hungry. Most days I skip “breakfast” and don’t have my first meal until after noon.

In the past, when I’m working and on a schedule, I find I feel “hungry” at certain times. I often wonder if I’m really hungry, or just in the habit of being hungry at that specific time.

Both, depending on various weekdays factors.

Sometimes I eat when I’m hungry only. Sometimes I eat according to a schedule. It depends on circumstances, such as work or other stuff going on.

Weekends I think I eat less.

If I’m invited to a dinner or barbque, I make dang sure I’m hungry when I get there! That means not eating the entire day until the event.

I eat at certain times.
I often don’t notice my own hunger, and if I don’t eat, nothing will stay down.

I would like to eat at certain times but my stomach doesn’t cater to time.
