Will you get stuff you ordered if you put your mail on hold?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) October 29th, 2017

I ordered some stuff online but our mail is on hold for another five days because both of us were out of town. Tracking information says my order should be delivered on Wednesday.
Will I still receive it by then or do I have to wait until mail delivery resumes?

If your order is delivered through the regular mail, your postman should hold it along with the rest of your mail. If you have access to the facility where your mail is being held, you can simply pick it up. Otherwise you can call and notify the postal service that you’re back early and receive your mail on the next delivery date.

If it is UPS or Fedex and the delivery needs a signature, they’ll ring your doorbell (and you won’t be there) and leave a pickup tag for you to sign. Otherwise they’ll leave it.

USPS will hold packages along with everything else and deliver them when your hold date expires.
