Why do drinks taste different in different containers?

Asked by RandomMrdan (7436points) August 13th, 2008

I enjoy drinking pop/soda, and I’ve noticed that depending on what I’m drinking from can change how it tastes.

I prefer coke to be from a 2 liter bottle, rather a 20oz or can. Mountain Dew from a can rather any other source.

Obviously if you put the beverage in ice and a glass it would become diluted and change taste…but why does the drink taste so much different from plastic to aluminum…aside from the obvious “it’s plastic, or it’s aluminum” Because I don’t taste plastic, and I don’t taste aluminum.
