Should I take down the mistletoe she hung up last Saturday?

Asked by josie (30934points) November 28th, 2017

I decorated my place last Saturday during the football games.
My girlfriend likes the mistletoe tradition, so she put some in the entry way of the house.
Today I read this…
http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-white-house-christmas-mistletoe-criticism-2017-11

Now I am thinking about taking it down.

She wasn’t born in the US, and so she may not be totally tuned into political correctness as it stands at the moment. I can forgive her for the transgression.
Still…
I hate to be more politically incorrect than I already am.
On the other hand, I hate to spoil her one little favorite tradition.
It’s a dilemma.

Why should you pay for the sexual assault sins of others? It’s a rather charming tradition. Last I looked, your house is not the White House.

Plant a lip lock on her and don’t sweat it. Of your relationship is tight enough, it shouldn’t be an issue.

You’re probably good.

I wouldn’t hang it at work though, ya know.

If you are a sexual predator like the President, it would be prudent to take it down. If not, it is okay to have up.

Keep it up if it makes her happy. Does it matter that much? Who would judge you for having it up anyway?

Are you trying to start a fight with the gf?? Leave it alone! And stay away from it!

Ignore Trump. He’s a complete ignoramus.

Are you telling us that you would actually allow that fool’s behavior to fkup YOUR Christmas traditions?

pssst, methinks @josie may be a bit ironic with his question and is actually looking for reflection on whether criticism of Presidential mistletoe is really the way we want the world to work… or possibly a sign some have lost perspective.

methinks I’ve been wrong before, but I don’t believe there will be any sleep lost in the Wales household over the mistletoe dilemma

I’d hope not. Eat drink and make frisky, tommorow we might die.

Take it down and burn it. She’s probably planning to murder you with it as Baldr was murdered with it.

I couldn’t read the link you put here I have adblocker is there another, or can you tell me about it, it sounds intriguing?

I’m more concerned about real issues. This is getting crazy. At some point, this harassment bubble will pop.

A nice nuclear war would be a great distraction. Hey, just read more bad things about North Korea. Kind of like before we started every other war. Hmm…

Fuck it. Do what you want. We still can and I am not sure how much longer we will be able to say that.

Dutchess_III's avatar

The most annoying thing about mistletoe are the guys who carry it around in their hand so it’s portable, and then use it as an excuse to kiss whoever they want at parties!

rojo's avatar

^^^ I never carry mine around, I just tie a sprig to my belt loop.
