Will you help me find foundation makeup for very dry skin?

Asked by MooCows (3216points) December 5th, 2017

I am 60 and have very dry skin on my face
and some sun spots but not too many wrinkles.
I need an inexpensive foundation that is moisturizing
but not so thick it looks fake. There are so many
brands out there just wondering if I have to pay
up for a face foundation that really suits my skin type.
Anyone have the same problem and solved it inexpensively?
What brands do you prefer?

When it comes to your face, inexpensive is a very difficult way to go. See it as an investment :)

My mother in law uses LancĂ´me, she is 75 and looks 20 years younger (she would often get the stink eye in the priority lane at the supermarket).

Good luck!

What is the purpose of the foundation for you? I’m your age and stick with a light moisturizer – occasionally mixed with a little BB creme from the dollar store. Gotta say – my skin looks good.

I find that if I use a good moisturizer, almost any foundation works. I stick with Vichy products for the most part though I have found that Avon’s moisture surge is a very good substitute.

I have splotchy skin on my face from the sun in TX when I was younger.
The foundation evens out my skin tone so it all looks one color mostly.
THAT is what I am trying to do is get my skin tone even on a dry face.

With a light moisturizer you can still see the splotchy areas on my face.
I want a foundation that is for dry skin but makes my face look dewy looking.

Foundation won’t do that. Dewy looking isn’t really an option once you’re past about 18.

You can even out how things look by using a primer under a very light foundation. With very dry skin you have to be careful about using heavier foundations and powders as they settle into the dry areas and make things look even more uneven.
